I dowloaded this to my 8320 and get an error starting the app that says "Error starting GPSTracker: Module GPSTracker has verification error 2953 at offset 126a"

I might not be running a supported OS.

John,

Not sure what that error means. I have a 8130 from Sprint and it works fine out of the box. It's a wild guess, but can "verification error" mean that your phone does not allow 3rd party apps due to security settings? There is not much information on Google about "error 2593".

I haven't tried BT gps units yet. My guess is that they wouldn't work, but I could be wrong.

Running my "unsupported OS" I have issues with BES v4.1.3. I'm not able to change some permissions, even though my IT policy allows it. It's possible that is the issue. I did get it to load to a Pearl with the same OS.

A quick update: with the latest version of InstaMapper, you can export your tracking data in KML and CSV formats.

Also, some people have reported verification errors on their BBs, and I am trying to figure out how to fix that. If you get a verification error, can you please post the model of your BB and the OS version? Thanks.

Verification erorrs should be fixed in the latest binary. If you encountered errors before, please redownload the software.

Thanks! I got it to work. It does work with Bluetooth GPS pucks. I had to go to Options >Advanced Options >GPS and set my puck and refresh the GPS.

I was able to get to your site and track where I'm at. Obivously, this is designed for built in GPS that is on all the time. I'm not sure how I would use this but the application does work as advertised.

Glad to hear it works for you now. There are some new features that you guys might want to know about:

- Tracks can now be exported in CSV and Google Earth KML formats
- Real-time tracking data can be shared with friends and family. You can even embed a map with your location on a blog (e.g. InstaMapper News).

If anyone would like to request a feature or give feedback, please do. It's awfully quiet in this thread.

Default Facebook app

There is a facebook app now for instamapper that displays a map with your location on the profile page. The map is updated at least once a minute.

This is the first time I've seen of this so I went ahead and have it installed on my Curve. It's all working great and I did what John Clark did with setting up the GPS puck in the advanced settings and now it works flawlessly.

This is an excellent application for my extended family members, so that they can keep track of us whenever we go and my immediate family is about to embark on a 1,200 mile journey tomorrow so this will help them.

Thanks, and keep up the good work.

(I'm not too nuts about the Facebook application - I don't have FB)

So I am still confused on what* GPS tracking is and how it is or could be useful. Is it so you can track where your phone is or where other peoples phones are?

Many people enjoy letting others track where they are and where they're going. I travel a lot and it would be nice if my wife could pull up a website and see where I was last.

Oh, ok, well that makes sense. So how is each device registered by IMEI or PIN for our devices?

If you read about it on their website it tells you how it all works.

Indeed. It's great to be aware of where other family members are. I was waiting for my wife at the gym today and she was late. Her car has a permanently installed i425 phone running InstaMapper, so I could track her location from my BlackBerry (there is a mobile interface: InstaMapper News: Location sharing) as she was driving to the gym.

I see that your site shows the real time tracking embedded in a web page. Is this how you view it on your Blackberry, or can it be brought up in Google Maps?

I can definitely see putting this on my kids' phones, when they're old enough to have phones.
