Yep. This is a Blackberry security success story. It's a bummer for the OP but the BB did what it was designed to do.

Yes, locked out, not wiped out. It could at least have an option where you can call you admin or carrier and after validation of generally acceptable security measures (SSN, Address, account# etc. etc. ) reset the password.

What I liked about the Treo is that it gave you an option to wipe the device. The security works and will not allow anyone in without a password. The only way to gain entry if you are not the owner is to select the option to wipe it.

I had a brain fart on the particular occasion and just could not get my password right. That was a very hard lesson for me and left a bad taste in my mouth about the BB.

What if you are traveling on business and van not get to your proper password right away or have a means to restore your device.

Wiping it is bad. Period !

The Palm, except for e-mail is a much better PDA.

I had no idea the BlackBerry did that, but I think it is an awesome feature.

This serves as an excellent example as to why people should make frequent backups.

It does have this option if you are on a BES.

You should know your password. Also, most business people are on a BES and the device can be restored from the BES with a new activation on the BES. Simple.

Nope. It's the best security of any device out there and works very well.

I agree EZ, I want control over my password without backdoors or overrides. I mess up it is my fault! I am on BIS and sync and backup daily.

If I have more than 10 passwords, and I can't remember which one is which, that's a bad thing! I kind of see it as one of those "you shouldn't be getting your password wrong at all" if it's your own phone.. *shrugs*

Yep. I don't keep a password on my device but I do have one for Password Keeper. I don't think I've ever had to enter the password more than twice and only from hitting the wrong key.

Same here... I pushed the password keeper, and it made me enter one.. that's about the only password on my phone..
Other than I changed my PIN2, which now that I think about it, I don't even remember maybe I should remember that..

Lol, I don't have it set to require a password at turn on though is the lucky thing =) And the the PIN2 is just for my sim card = I go in and say "GIMME" and I get a new one, no harm no foul!
