Please Login to Remove!

Yeah. That was exactly what I wanted to do. Ring tones do nothing to me, and most of preinstalled stuff either wasn't my style, or was useless.

I would have removed more if those were not such an important part of OS, such as Phone application, because 1) it runs all time. 2) I will never use it at all.

Can you simply delete the .cod's using Sure Wipe on the device itself? I never us VAD and would love to remove it.... but I don't sync to a windows comp ever unless I have too.....

Nah pretty sure you need a computer with the o.s. installed.

You can delete it directly by command line, but it's an ugly hack. Method shown here is much easier.

i always use the osclean.cmd file

this is great info. i will add it to the file to auto clean those files as well

here is the osclean files. i have not added it yet. as always thanx to Spectral for making it.

i left in the hebrew files. if you dont want those then add the line for *.he to the languages section.
also for vista right click and run as admin
Attached Files
File Type: zip osclean.zip (7.9 KB, 5 views)

While there are hacks (i.e. using JL_cmdr on the commandline) you're better off waiting on Sprint to release the OS files for the 8130, there's not a whole lot you can do except call them and light a fire under their tuckus. My advice is that you don't want to go whacking around on your 8130 to this extent (this thread) until you have a copy of the firmware -- what happens if something goes wrong and you need to reload the OS from scratch? You'd be completely screwed. :(

Oh cool, they finally released it - looks like 3 days ago. I can hear the Sprint people rejoicing already....

I just did it and freed up a ton of memory. I removed all the unused languages, plus all the associated VAD files for each. Plus I took the opportunity to install the latest OS on my Curve (Hong Kong CSL) while I was tinkering. I had been running the OS from O2 that was the only one to allow T-Mobile users to get a web browser, so it was about a year old. I went from 19.5 MB of free space to a full 25 MB.
