Default OS: 8100 4.5.0.255/4.5.0.162 (EastAsia + English)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.255 (EastAsia)

Package Version: 4.5.0.255
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.162
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.103
* File name: 8100EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel255_PL2.7.0.103_A4.5.0.16 2_Vodafone_Essar_Limited__for_Hutch_Essar_devices_ .exe
* File size: 89.67MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...DF29596708C94B

This download is from Vodafone Essar Limited but will work on ANY carrier's 8100 model BB. (Not 8110, 8120 or 8130)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded. (Vista users be sure to right click on the .exe file and select "Run As Adminstrator.")
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

OK, I admit I am not the brightest when it comes to these upgrades but they have always worked for me. I currently have v4.5.0.161 and platform 2.7.0.105 (the last upgrade posted) This time I get the below message. Is this right?

That's because the platform version for .162 is lower than the platform version of .161

So, if the platform number is lower...does that mean .161 is newer?
Sorry, that had me confused.

Technically .162 is a newer release...look at the package version. For some reason they chose to include a lower platform version for this release.

Hi,

I am having 8100, wireless handheld v 4.2.1.107 platform 2.3.0.83.
Do you have same link for T-mobile carrier, as with above link i downloaded & installed (BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.255 ) on my dekstop but it doesn't update the handheld.

Thanks in advance.

The first post has instructions on installation techniques. You have to make sure you remove the vendor.xml file.

Phil, thanks for your response.
However i had already followed the instruction.
Only part which i am mentioning is that i had purchased this mobile from T-mobile carrier in the past, will this matter?
Since my hendheld got updated to handheld v 4.2.1.107 platform 2.3.0.83,

Any advise will be appreciable.

Thanks,
Chandresh

The carrier of the phone does not matter, as long as it's an 8100 (not an 8110, 8120, 8130 ...) you are able to install this. I'm on Rogers and I installed this update on my 8100.

Enjoy the new operating system,

So far so good. Seems to be a little bit "snappier" than the previous version (can't remember the exact number, but fairly recent) that I was running.
