I was just wondering if the 8100 will ever have the ability to capture video. Also can I get the 8100 to recognize an 8gb Micro SD card?

I would have thought that if it were to get it, it would have been with the 4.5 OS. I don't know for sure, though.

The camera in the pearl 8100* isn't capable of video. The 8110, 8120 and 8130 all have that ability I believe. (8110 does for sure ;))

Yeah, I've heard of this camera mod trick. I also heard that the biggest issue is that the video is always a green tint or something. Obviously, 8100 IS capable of video recording (if the 'rumors' aren't.. rumors) but I don't know why RIM hasn't implemented it in any updates.

This is how to get video recording on a 8100 running 4.5 os.....(defect: pink and green film while recording)..

1.Download both 8100 & 8110 latest os (4.50.92/4.50.69) and install..

2.Go into:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8110-v4.5.0.69_P2.7.0.72..

3.Now open PkgDBCache.xml in notepad.

4.Go to edit>Find..Then type in 8110 and click on find..
Replace the highlighted 8110 with 8100..and save it..

5.Do steps 3 & 4 to Platform.alx..

6.Do steps 3 & 4 to Specification.alx..but instead of saving it go back to
edit>Find..(8110 should be written there already)..click on find next..
and replace the highlighted 8110 with 8100..

7.Do step 6 once more..and save it

8.Now copy all files in 8110-v4.5.0.69_P2.7.0.72 including the folders
"GPRS" & "Java".. Now Paste them Into
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8100-v4.5.0.69_P2.7.0.72 &
replace the files there..

9.Now Go into:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

10.Open Device.xml in notepad..Scroll down untill you find
<!-- 8100 -->..on the line under it move to the side untill you find
Camera="True" type in videoRecorder="True" after it...and save it..

11.Make sure to delete Vendor.xml in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

12.Run Loader to load the 4.5 Os..

There you go..you have Video Recording..
