It's actually available on AT&T's website.

It is on there, I just checked and it's now labeled as "8700c (AT&T)" and once you click on that it should lead you to the 4.2 download.

See the sticky that MrKyoo posted above.

The direct link to the AT&T download is:

https://www.blackberry.com/SoftwareD...ient=Rc4cZBaBN

When you get there be sure to select 8700"g" not 8700"c". Then you will get the latest 4.2 OS for the 8700c/g. The c & g are the same device with a different case.

Actually that's incorrect. They have removed the 8700"g" and now it's listed as "8700c(AT&T)" so if you are looking for the download for the new 4.2 from ATT, you want to click on the 8700c(AT&T). Hope that helps

Or don't since the extremely large Roxio overhead is useless to 8700 users

There is a version of 4.2 SP2 that doesn't include the Roxio Media Manager. I recommend that for the 8700 users. However, you can use the Roxio Media manager for loading pictures to the 8700 (just not very many.)

Be careful, it may not be the latest. I got the prior version posted and it reads back as v4.2.166, platform 2.3.0.59. The "latest" is

Package Version: 4.2.1.155
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.2.1.96
Software Platform: 2.3.0.79

Anyone have any more details?

Even if you download BBMessenger it won't work on the 4.2 device. The 4.2 version should be included in the OS. Is it not?

Galvatron, trust me. It used to be a separate app until 4.2 OS devices. Now BBMessenger is included in the OS's. Even if you download from BlackberryHELP you'll get the old version which will NOT work on the 4.2 OS. Go back into Desktop manager/Application Loader and you should find the checkbox for BBMessenger.

I'm missing something. If you can't download it and you don't have it on your device, how does it have these "input errors?"

I've never seen, or heard of, the errors of which you speak.
