That is odd. I have had some videos that will play fine if you let them play straight through, but when you fast-forward or rewind they will display choppy green squares for ~10 seconds then catch up with themselves. I think that the player is a little imperfect still. Maybe in a future release RIM will work some of the payer kinks out and maybe even let us go "full screen" and get rid of that play button bar...

Thanks for the donation b00st3d! Hope that it didn't cut into your vehicle budget ;)

The Seabyrd stuff works great!

Now if only someone could post something that would automate the conversion of everything in a directory to the 8800 format, I'd be golden.

This stuff is outstanding for being on the road and catching up on stuff the DVR grabbed, and also for use as a method to pacify an upset toddler by having a few Sesame Street episodes on tap ;)

Yeah, that sound like something that one should do - place the brand new shiny Blackberry 8800 in the hands of "an upset toddler" in need of pacification.

Converted a dozen or so 20-30 minute videos. First 2-3 play fine all teh way through with no problems. Most of the rest will 'pause' the video for 10-15 seconds while the audio keps playing without a hitch. The video will them skip ahead to catch up play 1-2 frames then pause again.

Any idea's?

All video's are from the same source (First season on Mind of Mencia). Re-encoded them all at the same time with the same settings with the software linked in post #1.

Fone Junkie, please send me the file if it is a reasonable size <10mb to [email address] . If not, post it to one of the file sharing repositories and I can download it from there. QuickSharing.com Free File Hosting 500MB is one I use often.

Anyone have an idea on the freezing playback issue? Seen that happen with video's just copied to the blackberry without converting them to a size the blackberry seems to like but this is on ones that were converted with the exact same setup as my other video's that are working fine.

Install 1.13e exe in the post above. It lets you set an input and output folder and default device 8100 or 8800.

I am having luck using this URL to convert Google and YT vids to .flv files.

Download videos from Youtube, Google, iFilm, Metacafe, DailyMotion, Music.

In BBVC I am having alot of luck with the 320x180 setting for the custom size.

I didn't think I would like this so much but I have a Three Stooges, 2 Lance Armstrong and Patches the Horse on it so far. Check out Patches

Patches the Horse - Google Video

so funny.

Been trying to use the BB Video Converter with AnyDVD to decrypt my DVD, but when the Video Converter is done, the file is not saved as an .avi, it just shows to be a file. What am I doing wrong?

I am going to be playing with the same thing tonight.

Just a thought. If you are renaming the output file from what is given as default, you must add the .avi or it will save it as a plain file. I forgot to add that on a decrypted movie and it did not work. When I added the .avi manually at the save button it worked fine.

Ahhhh... well that may be the problem then. I'll try that and see what happens.

EDIT: Renamed the file with the .avi at the end and now they work like a charm. Thanks for the help.

When you rename files with my program you will need to make sure that you tag the filename with .avi. If you forget that is OK, just let it finish then go to the finished file and tag it with .avi. Voila'!

Yeah, thats what I ended up doing. Thanks for the great program. It worked perfectly once I fixed the user error.

Default Video wont start

I had a problem with a movie that wont start. If I fast forward it, it will play fine.

One of my co workers also noticed the same issue with a movie he converted.

Both movies were copied from DVD.

EDIT--> Just a note that other DVD movies have worked fine.

Any ideas on what may be the problem?

I've used the old mplayer mencoder way of converting a file through DOS and havent had a problem. Im now trying to use the Blackberry Video Creator and while mencoding In going through the process it goes through, audio decoder=fine, video filter=fine, when it gets to video decoder is where I have an error "The selected video_out device is incompatible with this codec". Any thoughts? By the way its an mpg file. Ive done it the manual way with the same file using mplayer and it works. Any suggestions?

Okay, scratch that reply. This is what Ive done to fix the problem I was having. These are things I wasnt doing correctly: make sure you save the file your trying to convert in the mplayer folder and rename it with one word, then take that file and open it in Creator, now make sure you save the new encoded file in the mplayer folder with any one word name you choose as long as you add ".avi" to the new file. That seemed to have fixed my problem. I don't know if these couple things have been mentioned already, but just in case, there you go, so far so good

Try iSquint: isquint.org. The standard mpeg-4 settings worked well for some movies...
