Default Can someone PLEASE help me!

Forgive me if I sound a little peeved, but I've been trying for 3 hours now to transfer some photos from my BB Curve 8330 to my computer. The BB is no longer connected to any network, and this means neither a data nor cell network. I've tried using the USB cord to connect my phone to my computer but my computer was unable to recognize my phone and so it doesn't appear as a drive on my computer. I also tried the BB Desktop Manager, first version 5.0 and then the latest version. The 5.0 version had no means of transferring media (only data) and the latest version tells me that I must activate Mass Storage Mode. It IS and HAS BEEN activated the entire time, however. Furthermore, I have no media card in the phone anyway. Strike 2. So, I tried Bluetooth, both with a PC and a Mac. Neither worked as the phone was able to apparently make a connection but then could not transfer the files. Why must RIM make it so difficult to do something so simple? This is precisely why I dumped my BB for an Android phone a year ago. Can someone please explain to me how I can get these photos off the phone before I give it away? Thank you!

Sounds to me like you stored your pictures in the device memory and now there they are. If you can't transfer them by bluetooth, you'll need to activate it on the network and email them to yourself.

Don't be mad at RIM. This is something you might have thought of before you activated the other device.

Good luck.

Thanks for your help. I realize that I shouldn't be angry at RIM, but this is a pretty stupid design, if you ask me. At least with an Android phone you can get the photos off of the phone even after you deactivate the phone. It seems to me that they could have put more thought into designing the phone. Hopefully they put more thought into their newer phones.

They, RIM did put more thought into it... way before the Android was developed. You have a slot for a media card in the 8330. You have the option in the camera settings to save ALL your pictures to the Media Card. You had the opportunity to remember your pictures on the device before you deactivated it. You didn't.

RIM's device memory is secure, and for a reason.
Your Android already has virus attacks, because it is not secure. RIM doesn't.

But that's sorta off-topic.

Yes, you make good points. I agree that the Android phones are not the securest devices. Somehow I found their functioning much more intuitive however, unlike BBs. But to each their own, I guess. Thanks again for your help. You saved me a lot of frustration.

Purchase a micro SD card.
Put the media card into the BlackBerry.
Use the device OS to transfer the pictures from the Device Memory to the Media Card.
Take the card out of the BlackBerry and place it in car reader in a computer.

No activation required.

Yep. BlackBerrys are different.

But don't see why what MM suggests won't work. If there is a file app, open that and navigate to the images one by one, and move. Or else open media player and select explore from the menu, and navigate to the images. But you'll have to do it one by one to move from main memory to the card. Then remove the card and use a card reader on the computer.
