my 8520 doesnt have "device" on the location settings, it only shows the devices i have connected to via bluetooth. do i have a setting wrong, my girlfriend and many of my friends have the same phone and they have there device GPS but not me, im on Orange UK.

Thanks, but why does my girlfriend same phone in every way. also i am not picking up EDGE on my network. i used to on my old network

If she has an 8520 she does NOT have GPS. The 8520 is an entry level device with no built in GPS.

As far as your device is concerned, do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan/add? What does it show in the upper right hand corner? edge? GPRS? gprs?

What are you calling GPS? Is your girlfriend seeing location based off cell tower and not true GPS fix? Are you confusing a mapping app with GPS? What do you mean, exactly, when you say GPS?

About EDGE..... What do you see instead?

im on a blackberry data plan yes, and it shows GPRS.

EDGE on old network but not on current network? But you see GPRS in all caps? Sounds like your current service provider does not do EDGE.

yet again girlfriend same phone, EDGE or edge, called orange up there excuse was there are works taking place to upgrade signal etc... a month ago it cant have taken this long

Girlfriend, on same network, standing side by side with you, outdoors, gets EDGE and you get only GPRS?

Orange UK, her data plan is for a iPhone but she has the BB plan

Yes :( mine - GPRS, other half's phone - EDGE

Doesn't matter the network, the 8520 does not have GPS.
Unless she has a bluetooth GPS dongle.
