Default Problem Loading Apps to 8820

Please Login to Remove!

I'm trying to use the latest desktop manager to load bb apps to my 8820 but get the error message "No additional application designed for your device found". Anyone else having the same problem?

What applications are you attempting to load via DM? When I got the 8820, I ended up doing fresh OTA downloads on most 3rd party stuff.

For the time being, until the OS is released for the 8320, you cannot load apps via desktop, only OTA.

What OS are you referring to? I have the same problem with my 8310. Are you talking about a new desktop manager? How can RIM release both a 8310 in Canada and a 8820 in the States without the capability of loading apps via DTM.

You need to install the 8820 handheld OS on your computer. You should be able to download this from your carrier, or any carrier that supplies the 8820.

Sorry my bad, I read 8320, you wrote 8820.

With ALL the 8320 questions on the forum today, i hope you can understand my mistake. What Penguin wrote is correct, the OS must be loaded to your PC first.

Please be aware of the differences between the ones on the site. Some have improvements in some areas, while others seem to take away functionality...esp in the WiFi area. I currently am using the SmarTone and it seems to have all the feature richness and corrections that have been identified. I believe this package may be a bit higher than the newly released ATT version.

Sorry but I don't understand the reason for installing device software to the pc in order to be able to use DM to load apps. I never had this problem with my 8300.

Oh! You wanted a reason?
'Cause Rim didn't design it that way.

AND, that way, the Desktop Manager won't let you install some goofy application to your BB that is not intended for the OS that is installed on your BB. The OS on your PC confirms the OS on your BB.

So we have to wait (8320 App Loader) for RIM to release the OS? And only OTA is possible? Golly what a disappointment!
OK gurus out there: I developed my own themes, how do I make them OTA-available? Thanks
