Default Quincy software in 4.5.0.44

Please Login to Remove!

I just installed beta .44 and it installed something called quincy. When i checked desktop manager and the details about it, it said it was an application that tracks resets? Anyone know anything more? Thanks.

I believe that's RIM internal diagnostic software.
Congrats on publicizing the fact that you've illegally obtained handheld code.

And that every time you reboot the BlackBerry (or that it reboots itself), you will be sending information to RIM.

You can delete the following modules from the Java folder:

net_rim_quincy_ui
net_rim_quincy_config_std
net_rim_quincy_reports_new
net_rim_quincy_speech_icon
net_rim_bugreport
net_rim_quincy
net_rim_batterylog

It will remove Quincy & the battery monitor

...or you can just remove it from Add/Remove Programs and run through Application Loader.

Does this remove the wireless upgrade in the Advanced Options menu? Also what does the Battery Monitor do? Monitor the Battery Level?

I really like how they broke out the themes into an alx in that RIMInternaltools folder. I've added that to the webdesktop manager as a way for users to add themes without modifying the blackberry.alx file. Pretty cool.

Good, you shouldn't have it at all.
The OP is using software they shouldn't be using, and clearly obtained it illegally.
This thread doesn't apply to everyone.

Wow, we've uncovered the infamous underground world of illeagal Blackberry software.

Ohh, exciting it is.

So who did you have to kill, bribe, sell off, hack or steal to get it.

its the same exact version of the software, this is just an internal beta copy of the software, instead of an external beta

On your PC go to Start, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs (on XP) and Remove the Application - BlackBerry Internal Apps for RIM Version 4.5.0...then connect with desktop manager and let it uninstall quincy.Much easier and safer than editing the java folder...

It lets RIM know that you have an unauthorized device running unreleased software. It paints a really big target on your head. Which RIM may make an example out of you.
