Default DR Plan for BES 4.0 & Lotus

can anyone tell me what disaster recovery plans admins have in place for BES 4.0 using Lotus Notes?

i have seen this thread http://www.blackberryforums.com/show...aster+recovery

my boss whats to know what is out there (if anything)

i know there could be not much to a DR plan for the BES. just thought id ask here first as usually you guys are very helpful and would know the answers to my questions!

Is this in addition to your existing Domino backup plan?

As for BES, if you regularly perform backups using the besbackup utility and keep regular copies of the userlist and database files (if you wish), then along with your domino DR plan you should be set.

From experience, as long as you can get your mail system back up, then BES isnt too hard to recover. More so on Exchange, but Domino is quite similar.

yeah i thought that would be the case. thanks for that.

boss wants to know what will happen is the bes goes down.

communication?:: pin to pin? phone calls?

If the BES goes down, you'll stop getting/sending emails and any PIM synchronisation. Phone calls and PIN to PIN will still work, as will wap browsing (if its enabled). MDS browsing will of course go down.

so there is nothing really that can be done except for getting the BES back up and running!
