Did anyone get the Android Player up and running after last update..?
Or is it dead..?

I don't think RIM was very happy about having such an early version out in the wild as an example of the quality of their work; even though most of us who were running it understood it wasn't ready for serious work and were just running it for the kool factor.

I would be surprised if they didn't include something in the last update that killed it; but I could be wrong.

When the android player was installed, it automatically created various folders on the playbook. After the last upgrade, the OS took away the permissions that the player previously had. So it was explained. Whether RIM was unhappy or not, who can say.

Hiya Folks,

I have a PB and love it!

I recently read that PB can run Android Apps - as per these postings, and I'd like to have a few Android Apps avalable that I miss from my old tablet on my PB.

Does anyone have any idea when (if) RIM (or someone else) are releasing a native app that will allow a user to run Android Apps on a PB?

Or -

If there are instructions (written for an idiot in english) that explain how to install whatever needs installing?

I don't know what sideloading is!
I don't know what over half the stuff in these postings mean!
I'm not a technical guru/wizzard, I'm a business man that's not afraid to have a go at something new; after-all, if it doesn't work I can aways secutiry wipe the PB and start again - not a real drama.

Just a normal 'Joe Public' who would like a bit more from his PB.

Last OS killed the Android player. If your PB is up to date you will have to wait for the 2.0 upgrade.

Yes. The (potentially good) news is that at BlackBerry DevCon there are breakout sessions dealing with developing for the Android player. That is, of course, no garantee of anything.
