Just wondering as I haven't seen many recent postings, what the current guess on Pearl 2 on Tmobile?

BlackBerry Pearl 8120 hits the FCC | The Boy Genius Report

GSM and Wi-Fi together being reported. Wasn't there not enough room in the curve for both? Now the Pearl has both?

A contact of mine told me a while back that he had a Pearl 2 and that it had GPS and wifi. So, I would assume that this is true. Personally, I'll bet that GPS and wifi together are more of a battery life issue than a size/fitting problem. Just my $.02.

Doesn't seem like there's any need for wifi when you have 3G

Hmm, I'm sceptical. The European release in Spain and other places of the 8120 only had Wifi. Why would the US release have both?

I agree with this post. Why would the 8120 here be any different?

Anyway a little birdie (my corp account rep for TMo) said the 8820 and 8120 is rumored to be available on TMo in Jan or Feb next year.

There still isn't enough space, the 8110 only has GPS.

It will be on Vodafone UK mid Jan

According to the FCC manual supplied by RIM for the 8120 it lists both GPS and WiFi...wouldn't that be great!!!! Below are links to both of the manuals that are brought up on the FCC website for the 8120, both have information and instructions for GPS and WiFi!!!

If you read carefully, the document does not confirm internal GPS, rather the ability to pair with an external BT GPS receiver . . .

Sand in the face

Operators in Europe have installed 3g and 3g+ costing them billions in licenses, with one small negative.
They sold millions of unlimited 3g plans since 2003, and now they regret.
This is why the iphone is only Edge, and the blackberry 8120 as well.
In the whole of Europe, there is no unlimited EDGE data plan without small prints.
Whereas for WIFI, it is intended more to be used with provider's WiFi HotSpots.
So that they make you pay as well for the time spent connected thru WiFi.
Why is the US version only dual band and 3g? Blackberry was always targeted
for business oriented people. What would a US blackberry owner do if he takes his phone on a trip?
If it was quad band, I would have bought the US version right away.
As for the GPS, the 8130 could locate you through 3 WiFi HotSpots, but
with less accuracy than sat gps. As with the iphone here in France.
Bare in mind that if it costs $100/mnth for a 'normal' plan in the US,
the guys are billing 100 euros for an equivalent plan here, thus $148.
Do you think they will leave us alone?
We have phones today that enable you to watch HD TV on the unit, 3g+ speed, 10 megpixel built in camera, gps etc. etc. but they are not hip and don't sell.
Everybody wants a pearl and an iphone....
If only bloomberg works on another brand......

The only BB's that I know of that are dual (GSM) band are the 8830's that are CDMA world phones. All the rest of today's BB's are all quad band--just not 3g.
