Default Blackberry/Exchange/ Non BES ? (Newbie)

Please Login to Remove!

Hello.

Our senior manager at work wants a blackberry, We are running exchange 2000 and collect our email via our exchange server (SMTP).

We do not have BES installed.

Will the user be able to collect his emails whilst out of the office without installing a BES onto our exchange?

What are the requirements to do this ?

Thanks for any answers, I have been given conflicting information from the IT Admin and also the potential supplier of the blackberry device.

Please Help

Many Thanks

You will use a BIS (blackberry internet service)

You can do it different ways but I find the easiest is...

Have your email admin setup a forward to the email address of the BIS (ie [email address])

That way all email to his outlook is forwarded to his BB

It will, but there's a compromise in terms of reliability since you're counting on a desktop PC to be up and running. If anything happens to that PC, no email gets forwarded to the handheld.

I just got a 7250 on Sprint and all I do is forward a copy of all my email to my blackberry address and it works great. I like the fact I do not need to rely on software running on my computer. I had this with Sprint's Business Connection it was ok but it really sucked when it did not work since I had no way of getting it restarted.
