Default Is there such thing as running too many programs?

Are the BlackBerrys just like any operating system, where the higher the number of programs running in the background, the sluggish it gets?

Yes. I got a message once - "too many apps on device". I had to delete one to get the others to all work.

Sounds like you ran out of space? I'm talking about having several programs (Alerts, IM+, SmartViewer, etc.) running in the background at once.

Yep. You can use ALT + Escape to check the apps running in the background.

As with any OS, the more programs you have in memory at any given point in time, the less memory the OS has for other things, so the more sluggish it will run.

This isn't a memory issue, it's an OS limitation. The BlackBerry OS only always you to have so many modules installed (I believe the number is 256).
