Default Trying to setup Verizon Blackberry Bold 9650 on AT&T

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Blackberry Bold from Verizon but it is unlocked for GSM use and I am trying to use it with AT&T, I got a AT&T SIM Card and tried to use it but only calls and standard texting would work, (no picture video or instant messaging)..I am wondering if anyone could help me setup my Blackberry Bold 9650 for use with AT&T so I can at least SMS and MMS, even if I can't use Instant Messaging, I don't mind..I can still use the Built in Instant Messengers and BBM over wifi, I am just trying to get Picture, Video and MMS messaging to work, can someone help me or direct me to a thread where someone may have already posted something about this?

Thanks so much

Did you get a Blackberry data plan from ATT?

No, but I was told I don't need one to use Video and Picture messaging, and the Built in Instant Messengers, (AOL Google Talk, AIM, Yahoo all work over WIFI still)... Regular Text goes through but Picture and Video (any type of MMS won't) I was told there is a setting to change or some APN or some code to type in somewhere in the blackberry so that it uses AT&T's MMS instead of Verizon..

Nope. MMS uses data. Also AT&T will automatically add a blackberry data plan when they do their regular IMEI sweep.

Actually I had a 8310 and 8320 Curve before on AT&T and I have AT&T Prepaid GoPhone (Unlimited Talk & Text) and Picture and Video messaging worked then...I am not a contract ATT customer due to I have too bad of credit to afford their deposit for a line of service..

ATT does not allow Blackberrys to function on it's network without a BB Data plan. the Go-Phone data plan wont work. Basically the BB will not work long and you will be given a full plan added to your service unless becasue of your credit they shut it off.

My old BB Curve did well I guess they changed things, so my BB Bold 9650 is useless to me, if anyone wants to buy it, please let me know then...

I suppose you could see if they do find you and if they do add a BB data plan maybe it will be something you want. The BB for voice and standard text only is expensive. If your going to use BBM, internet and other BB options it is cost effective.

Either way good luck and happy new year.

I was told by AT&T that there is a way to get my Blackberry Bold 9650 to work on their network correctly as far as Picture and Video Messaging but wouldn't tell me how to do it, I was told I have to have my phone send for Service Books? Basically make the phone ask AT&T's network for the settings to make it work if this makes sense..I was wondering if anyone could help me..I will also attach a photo to this post showing what message I get when I try to create a MMS message.
Anything that I could try to get it to work is helpful

Yes, you get the correct service books from a blackberry data plan.

Yes but I informed them I am a GoPhone (Prepaid) customer and they said I can still do it but did not explain how, with AT&T Prepaid I cannot obtain a Blackberry Data plan..

If they didn't explain how its because they don't know how, because it isn't possible.
