I went back to 4.2.107 due to the hour glass consistently popping up and taking forever to do anything.

I completely wiped the unit, then installed 4.5, reformatted the media card and didn't use any 3rd party apps or themes.

It was just slow as hell. No real reason why, but I don't have any of these issues on the older more stable OS.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

The consistent hourglassing is usually due to the device scanning the media card. Are you sure the scanning was complete? You can open the media player to check.

There was nothing on the memory card. I completely formatted it and restored no data back to it after the OS upgrade due to people reporting problems with this and that.

There were only pictures on it anyways, and I was going to wait a day or so before restoring them.

JC, can you tell me where I can find this file? Thanks in advance!

i just attempted the upgrade and it failed at the midway point. I now see the dreaded 507 error. I'm downloading the OS install exe again and will attempt the install again.

i just hope I can get the phone recognized by WinXp Sp2 via USB like before. I did try to use Desktop Mgr to restore the prev. BB OS but the phone was not being recognized.

update: I managed to get the device recognized by Windows by manually clicking on the loader.exe in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader". The BB apps are installing now to the device. My fingers are crossed that the BB OS will be installed

Install is done. Phone did an auto reboot. I now see the hour glass spinning. It's been like this for 5 mins already.

By the way, this is the OS install file I used. "8100M_PBr4[1].5.0_rel81_PL2.7.0.68_A4.5.0.55.exe"

Give it 20-25 mins. This is normal after an install.

whew. seems to be working. initially, things are running slow but seem to be getting slightly faster. i hope the user experience (speed-wise) gets better.

i wonder if leaving in my sd card caused my problems?
