Default Curve 8900 - Media Card Issue

Please Login to Remove!

Hello.

I recently purchased a 4GB SanDisk microSDHC card for my BB Curve 8900. I spoke to a Best Buy representative at the store who said the card will work for my phone. I inserted the card but my device does not pick up the fact that there is a new media card. I did format the card using a laptop but that did not help at all. I want the media card so I can transfer the pictures on my BB to the computer but I'm getting frustrated because nothing is working.

Here is the phone info:

BB 8900
V 4.6.1 (Platform 4.2.0)

No where under "Options" does it list "Media Card".

Under "Memory", I have the following:
Media Card Support: On
Encryption Mode: None
Mass Storage Mode Support: On
Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected: Yes
A media card is not presently inserted in the device.

Thanks for the help!!

You may have a faulty media card.

you need to format the card form inside the blackberry device. go to options> media card> then use ur trackballl and select FORMAT card. this will provide you with the folders you need (hopefully)

also when mass storage mode in in use your phone will not recognize the media card.

try and format that card from the phone and see if it starts working for you.

My dad inserted the media card into his laptop using an adapter and he was able to format the card and even download files to it. I think it's more of something that isn't right with the phone and not with the card!

When I go to the options menu, I don't see the media card selection. I have tried reinserting the media card several times as well as the battery pull with no luck. Let me see if I turn off the mass storage mode if that helps!

Thanks for the help!

First you need to format the card within the blackberry device and then install it

try options - memory.
then menu - format
pop up box: device or media card
select media card.

Thanks all for the help!

Midnightdraven, I don't have the option to format in memory. The only thing listed when I press the menu key is "save" and "close". I'm not having any luck with this media card.

Do you think if I take the phone with the card to a T-Mobile store they'll be able to help me?

Thanks again!

I went to a T-Mobile store today and they suggested I do a "wipe" of the system and then try to install the media card. No luck! I wiped the phone clean and reinstalled the media card but it is still not work. They told me if the wipe didn't work, then the problem is the phone. Since the phone is still under warranty, I can exchange it for a new one that'd hopefully read my media card!!!

Thanks for the help!
