It took about 40 minutes to load on the MEID device. That device was wiped with no data to backup/restore as well as no 3rd party apps.

The ESN is my device, which has plenty of data to backup/restore as well as 3rd party apps to load. So it should take longer. I am estimating around 60 minutes or so.

It has loaded on the MEID device I have, and now rebooting. Fingers crossed. If this works, I will update the first post to indicate it's for both.

WOOHOO! Success! At first it didn't want to go past the boot up screen and the boot status bar would stop at about 60%.

I did a longer battery pull (like 2 minutes) and it did stop at the at point again during boot up, but then booted up fine.

My son will be so happy

Good deal. Loaded on my ESN device fine. It is restoring my data now. Then to activate on the BES.

Julie, you may want to change the thread title as well.

Any comments on the speed of 5.0 on an 8330. How much memory does everyone have once this is loaded?

Still restoring (almost done). Then I will activate on the BES and let you know my findings.

Soxfan04, check the image above, it shows the memory after the install.

I heard that there's not even a 5.0 type theme that comes with this. Sorry guys, looks like you're stuck with the ugly 4.5 dimension themes.

Hardly. I've been running a 5.0 hybrid for a while now, and there are many 5.0 themes, and many 4.5 themes that still work on 5.0.

Check out this forum for some great free ones:

BlackBerry Curve 83xx Themes - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com

Some of my faves from that site that work fine on 5.0.0.328:

SenseBerry Droid - Rain and Rock - FREE - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com

Blue Sky for BB Curve 83XX (4.5 OS) 5 options - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com

I believe he means the default 5.0 themes that come preloaded with most devices running 5.0.

By default, this OS only has the same themes as the other (4.5) OSs had.

I wasn't thilled with the memory after the install (same as screen shot above - 30M), so have removed a bunch of stuff:
  • Voice Activated Dialing
  • Tasks
  • Help
  • Brickbreaker
  • BlackBerry Maps
  • Docs/Sheets/Word To Go

Now up to 37.8M without any 3rd party apps installed.

This OS puts the Desktop icon on the homescreen for BES only emails .

I don't see that one this device (but it hasn't yet been activated on the BES). I only see a Messages icon.
