Default Upgrade cost from 7230 to 7100T

Please Login to Remove!

I just went to a T-Mobile store and tried purchasing a new 7100T. I am current T-Mobile subscriber with a 7230. They wouldn't give me the $299.00 price with a $100 mail in rebate. Anybody know what the deal is? They told me that it would cost $335.00 without a rebate. What's the deal? They screw current customers out of the deal but allow new customers the $299.00 price with a $100 mail in rebate???

What is stopping me from buying the phone from Karbon or the like for their price?? Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

AFAIK upgrades are cost of phone, at least they are most indirect dealers such as myself. I'm not 100% sure what T-mobile corporate policy is, maybe ronin can step in here and maybe shed some light.

If you have had the 7230 active for 12 months, the upgrade plan at T-Mobile should provide you with the $299 price with the $100 mail-in rebate. Otherwise, you have to get a new service -- if you are close to the 12 month mark, go for the new service, and cut back the plan on your 7230 to the lowest possible rate, then cancel at the 12 month mark. HOWEVER -- you will most likely lose your current cell phone number. It MIGHT be possible to switch it over when you are cancelling the 7230 at the end of 12 months, but they will not guarantee that. This has been my experience.

$335 just sounds like the price with tax.

If your current contract is 11 months in then they will extend it for the lower price, if not then you are stuck and need new service.

I "upgraded" my Treo 270 account to a RIM 7100t and got the $299 - $100 rebate. Manager authorized it. I think that was the key. Did it at a TMO company store.

They also sold me the cool Motorola Bluetooth headset for $50.00.
