Default 8700R ringtone volume bug

Please Login to Remove!

On profiles - set volume to 'High', tested it as it allows you to sample volume choice, which was loud indeed. In actual use while in the correct activated profile, ringtone volume remains low when call comes in. Anyone has the same problem? Any fixes or back to Rogers it goes.

Do you mean if you open profiles, then click on trackwheel and select show tunes then click trackwheel then select volume? if so:

haha that volume is just for the tunes application to listen to the ringtones,

for the actual volume of the profile you must adjust the profile, so edit the profile then edit the volume in the type (messsage, sms etc)

I downloaded some of the ringtones that were posted in the forums here and when my 8700r rings it is very very loud. Even if I am somewhere and there is alot of noise around me I can hear it ring. I am not too sure why your blackberry is giving you those issues.

I have the same issue - the provided ringtones - the volume is too low. i have not yet tried to add a ringtone to see if it would be louder.

I set volume to "high" in my profile, but still too soft to hear.

I am having the same issue. I have the profile set to high. When I choose them they are high but when the phone rings they are useless.

Another post says to make a call with speakerphone & adjust volume to 100% then end the call. Then your ringtones will be LOUD.

Bug...

Hi all,

Newbie user here - forgive me if there's another thread that addresses a fix for this problem somewhere...I searched and couldn't find one.

Has anyone heard anything about a patch yet? I am experiencing this problem with my week-old 8700 and called Rogers support - but they had absolutely no idea what to do and could only recommend I reinstall the 8700's software (which I did, to no avail).

Should I just return my 8700 and go with a 72xx series?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/107)

Just make a speakerphone call and turn the volume to max, that volume also affects tones

Default Fix it for good

Update your software to .284. Go to the Themes thread and follow the instructions on getting the Zen theme.

Holy crap!

You guys are amazing. Thanks so much! Seems to be working like a charm - and the new themes are a fun bonus too.

Many many many thanks!

I have the opposite problem. My downloaded (or even default) ringtones are deafening. I tried the speakerphone trick but they are still way too loud even set to low. I did the Bharti upgrade and that did not seem to help. I've tried making my own mp3's (which work) but have the same problem. How the heck do you turn the volume down? I was playing with my 8700 last night and the ring tone woke up my kids!

Try going to Profiles, go to Advanced, select your profile, select edit, select phone, select volume, change, save. This is with .284. I think with other OS you can go directly to edit.

If you haven't reprogrammed the left side convenience key it will take you to profiles and you can adjust alert volumes there.

Has anyone heard anything about the "too loud" issue being addressed and fixed in future OS upgrades?? Being too low was a pain - - but TOO LOUD is an even bigger pain. I know - - never satified!!

Where do you get.284 from? I am on Cingular using my companies BES. I do not want to mess anything up since my phone is working great. However, I am experiencing the same issue with the ring tone volume. I have it set high and the samepl sounds very loud but actual calls are at a low ringer volume. I will try the speaker phone thing but am curious about .284.

I had this problem with ringtones I created with Audacity. I fixed it by turning the volume down on the tracks by -6 before creating the MP3. Worked like a charm. If you need detailed instructions, PM me and I will walk you through it.
