Handhelds connectd to BES on Domino 8.5.

When you do a search in your messages on hand held, is there a way to search all messages in the mail file,or at least all messages in the inbox?

The device only seems to be searching through messages that are 30 days old. The mail file is full text indexed.

I am not a BES Admin, but I would think the search would be limited to what emails are on the handheld. I am guessing you only have thirty days saved to the handhelds.

It depends on the version of BES and the version of handheld OS on your device.
Handheld OS 4.5 or greater in conjunction with BES 4.1.5 or greater will provide Remote Search capabilities.
On Domino, this requires FTI of your mailbox, but you already seem to have that part covered.

We're running Domino 8.5 and BES 4.1.6.

The user is doing a remote search, mail file is FTI as mentioned, but still only 30 days back...weird. As a test we found an email in mail file that was more than 30 days old, search for a criteria we know is in email, but it won't find it. Hmmm?

nick wall, the BlackBerry is not a Notes client. The search you perform on it is limited to the messages on the device only. It is not searching the user's mail file. You must get this concept right.

Not entirely true. As penguin stated, if the BES is 4.1.5 or higher and the device is running OS 4.5 or higher, the device can do a remote search of the user's mailbox.

From the device:

Messages > Menu Key > Search > Change Search Type from Local to Remote > Input your search criteria > Menu Key > Search.

This will do a remote search of your mailbox.
