I'm writing my manual for administration on our BES. I read all the posts here about the function: "erase data and disable handheld"

The data will be erased, the handheld will be disabled. Telephone functions will be left enabled.

Just what in case if we found the handheld back? Can we enable it again? Or do we have to contact our provider to re-enable the device?

You'll have to go to the provider. They will demand proof that you are the original owner in order for them to re-enable it, and that could take weeks.

Of course.
In fact, "disable" is a bit misleading. The function doesn't really disable anything on the device.
It merely disconnects the device from BES.

If you find the device and want to use it again, just do a new Enterprise Activation on it.
You don't need to contact your service provider unless you've previously called them to blacklist/disable the device at the carrier level.
