Default BlackBerry Storm Picture and Video Editing

Please Login to Remove!

If you have seen Apple's commercials lately for the iPhone, they show the easy of editing pictures and movies. We have had other phones in the past that allow for picture editing in very simple way such as zooming and cropping.

Does anyone knows how to edit a picture and/or movie in the Storm?

The BlackBerry does not have those features natively.

I'm pretty sure you can crop them. There is a 'button' that comes up that should allow you to crop an image after you take it.

I haven't found anything for Blackberry. For iPhone I had photogenie and a bunch of others that let me add color effects, crop, resize, add borders, adjust color values, and even do things like make photos black and white ... Painting in the color for a nice effect.

Iphone apps are more powerful than blackberry ones and feel more like computer software instead of stripped down programs like we get on bb and wm.

But I use my Bold (using it to type this) as my main messaging device and live with the fact Blackberry sucks for apps compared to iphone. It really can't compete. I use iphone for everything else.

Of course it can compete. It doesn't at the moment because the apps are simply not there.

No it can't. What IS there is nowhere near the same quality as the equivelant iphone version. I run both and purchase software for both so I know. The disadvantage for Blackberry is the outdated OS. Yes they aren't there now, nor will they ever be unless they do an extensive overhaul of the OS.

Sorry. I think you are totally wrong. There is nothing in the OS which inhibits developing a decent image editor.

What OS features do you see as missing?

If I am absolutely wrong, then NOBODY has created BB apps that have the same quality as the ones the iPhone has. I have been with bb for a long time and now love my Bold, but come on. There has to be something missing if bb has been around for as long as it has, and its apps feel like windows 3.11 software compared to iphone software that looks a hell of a lot more modern.

Gaming on bb definately is not comparable. And even productivity apps. I mean seriously ... Comparing docstogo for bb with docstogo for iphone is like oild and water. The iphone version looks like a modern piece of desktop software while the bb one looks like an old wordstar with new features. Even if you don't have an iphone to try it for yourself, looking at screenshots will give anyone the idea that bb apps are archaic. It doesn't take a genius to see that. I run both side by side so I see and feel the difference. No comparison.

Once more : What is missing from the OS? The Apple applications are simply better written.

No one has argued that the BB apps generally suck compared to the iPhone ones. The point in contention is whether its a result of the OS lacking features which you claim or because, as I would suggest, the competition is simply not there for the Storm and the developers can churn out half arsed applications without worrying too much. SW on the iPhone pretty much must meet a certain pedigree or it won't sell. BB choices are fewer and farer between and can succeed without the polish generally seen in iPhone applications.

Default Need some image and video editing apps....

The surprising thing is that other phones such as LG Dare with less capability have these features. Do not understand why can RIMM get these apps available.

Well we can say BB is more 'corporate' and iPhone is more like an 'fashion item' with all the goodies! Let's be honest, RIM desktop mgr is a crap! It's takes up shit load of your notebook's memory and utilize 3/4 of the CPU!!
