I just read this on keyetv.com and wondered if anyone has seen it. It does pertain to the posters question as to the possibility of reading content on their device without their knowledge.

Too bad the TV reporter has very little idea what he's talking about in regard to the BlackBerry. It is possible to load spyware on the BlackBerry, but the 'spy' must have several minutes alone with your device to load the software, and even then it is easily removed.

Hi, this has been discussed here before. As far as we know, there are 2 or possibly 3 programs that can spy on a BlackBerry. And those do not work on CDMA devices like those from Verizon and Sprint. There are a few sites claiming to sell software that can spy on sms on a BlackBerry, but the ones I've investigated appear to be frauds... they don't work.

See here:

Symbian devices are the most susceptible to spyware, and maybe Windows Mobile, but not BlackBerry.

The best defense against having unwanted apps included spy programs on your BlackBerry is to password protect it and have a short security time out. These apps cannot be installed remotely, some has to have physical access to the device.
