Default Documents to Go in OS 4.5 questions

Please Login to Remove!

I'm having issues with Documents to Go in the new OS 4.5.

First of all, I have Word to Go and Slideshow to Go, but I do not have Sheet to Go. Does anybody know why I don't have the Sheet to Go application? The help screen says I should have all three.

Secondly, and more importantly, I can't figure out for the life of me how to open a document in Word to Go. The "open attachment" option when I'm in an email opens the document in the original native attachment viewer, not Docs to Go. The help function in the Word to Go program says to select the attachment in the email, press menu and select "download attachment". I don't have a "download attachment" option, though, just "open attachment". It seems like you could open a document that is saved on your SD card, but there is no way to save an email attachment to a SD card.

What am I missing here?

I haven't even begun to try to figure out slideshow to go...

you need to be on BES 4.1.5 or BIS 2.5 to get the download feature fully functional. Sheets to Go will come later in the year (with the 9000) and is not available yet.

How can I find out if I am on BIS 2.5, or which version I am on?

North America is not on BIS 2.5 yet. Only Asia/Pacific. It should be coming "soon"

Well that blows. So Documents to Go is essentially useless then. I can't think of how or what I could use it for if it won't open email attachments.

you can send them now, just load a blank word doc on your device, edit, save as, and send.

1) I'm not sure why I would need to create a word document on my BB. What I need is to be able to open and edit documents that are sent to me via email.
2) When I select "New" in the menu, it tells me that the BB comes with Standard Edition and I would have to pay to upgrade to the Premium Edition to create a new document anyway.
3) It dawned on me that what you are saying is that a work-around to upgrading is to save a blank word document to my device using the Desktop software and then open that and edit it.
4) Which brings me back to point #1.

I don't mean to be pissy with you. You're a great moderator and have been very helpful to me in the past. I guess I'm just a little miffed that this awesome new feature that was touted as a big upgrade in 4.5 is essentially useless to me at this stage.

As a side note, I had a fully-functional, free version of Documents To Go 5 years ago on my Treo, and I can't figure out why RIM can't get their s**t together and include a decent document management solution on their devices. I've been using Repligo, which is great, but you can't edit documents and it costs me (my company) $79 a year.

well keep in mind that the BIS enhancement is coming. Asia/Pacific was essentially a test market to go to 2.5 and it brings HTML email and Docs to Go support. 4.5 was released by the carriers before this update, though users on BES 4.1.5 already have this ability. Give it a few weeks to 60 days and I think we will all be using Docs to Go. The premium version is not available yet because the rest of the infrastructure is not ready for it. Though again, I think we will see this shortly.

i checked the box for Docs To Go in the desktop application loader during the OS install (the default was unchecked). I think you could probably go back and open your desktop, click Application Loader, check the Docs To Go box and it will install - but I'm not sure.

When I receive an attachment, not I have the option to either open it or download it. Try resending service books maybe?

I just emailed myself a word doc and it worked just great for me. Once its opened you have to switch to edit mode to change anything, but no big hassle.

Sheets to go is available. If you follow the link in "documents to go" to download the trial of the premium version, then download that trial version, its part of it. You can use sheets, word, and slides as a standard/free version after that. You have the option to start using the premium as a trial also, but i'm just using it as the free version with all 3 programs.

I have also emailed myself an excel file. It will let me open it with the standard BB "OPEN ATTACHEMT" with no problem. But how does one open it in documents to go? or even save it to the MICRO SD card and then open it with documents to go? It I connect my BB to my PC then copy to SD card I can get to it but not thru email.

Any help to open from email would be great!!
Thnx
