In the past I had a user who had an ATT BlackBerry. We got it unlocked for free by calling tech support and telling them he was going out of the Country...they emailed him the unlock code for free.
No. Unlocking the BB for use on a carrier other than for which it is branded does not change the PIN. The PIN remains the same and stays with the device.
i bought me a 8830 but the PIN is still used by another person, how do i work around that? if i would apply for BIS, would my local carrier take care of that for me or is that my sole problem for buying a BB from a 3rd party vendor?
I tried emailing Cable and wireless as well as calling them..
Email: I'm moving out of the country and requesting unlock code
Response: You have to talk to your carrier we can't do anything..
My Response: You are the carrier for this phone.
( no response )
When I tried to call it was busy all the time.. Can anyone help? I did order a code from horizon but I would like to get one from cable and wireless asap just so I dont have to wait..
And what does the pin do ? Is this going to be a problem not knowing it?
@ Pizza-- is your device branded to Cable & Wireless? Then yes, only they can provide the "free" carrier unlock.
@ jepock22-- If the carrier won't release the PIN for your use, then you will not have use of the BB for BIS at all, on any carrier. Your issue is not related to unlocking the device, I am not sure why you are posting your questions here, but so be it for now.
