Default 8700 Case from Gizmoskin (UniqueMobile on eBay)

Please Login to Remove!

While I wait for my 8700g to be delivered (I only ordered it 20 minutes ago) I thought I'd ask if anyone has any experience with the lambskin leather cases from UniqueMobile (sold on eBay). I have their case for the 7100 and it has been great...

I'm still a newbie so I can't post the URL, but you can find them on eBay, seller name "uniquemobile2" for $39.99.

Custom fit to the 8700, nice leather, sleeper magnet, etc...

Is this the one you are referring to: eBay

Looks very similar to the Gizmoskin case reviewed by lgreenberg: http://blackberryforums.com/showthre...ight=gizmoskin

EDIT: The pictures look to be the same as the pictures on the Gizmoskin website: Clicky

Yep, that's the same case. Thanks for the link to the review, it answered a bunch of questions I had!

There have been NUMEROUS problems with that case. Though some claim the issues have been fixed, I would be wary. There are entire threads on the problems with that one - mine came apart and I sent it back immediately.

I bought this case on E-bay, but no longer use it. It is WAY too big for the 8700c! It's more than half an inch wider and also thicker than it needs to be. The BB is rolling around loose in it. I e-mailed the seller and he said that they used to get complaints that it was too tight and changed it to the current form.

I do like the clip, the closing mechanism and the general feel of the case. It does put BB to sleep. If the fit were better, I would probably use this case over the other ones I have (RIM leather case and SEIDO holster).

Thanks everyone. I'll be interested to see how it fits with the 8700g, and I'll post my comments.

I have their original (calfskin) case for the 7100t and loved it... everything except the big scratch I put on the front of it when I scraped against a shelf in the garage. Fit the 7100t like a glove, magnet held the flap in place well, ratchet clip kept it from flipping upside down. I also got the 2nd generation for the 7100t (made of lambskin). Considerably looser, felt more like a generic case than a custom fit.

I e-mailed them a few times and they always responded quickly. They told me the 8700 case is now a bit tighter for a snug fit. We'll see when it arrives...

I wonder if the fit is more for the 72XX devices.

I currently use the case from UniqueMobile.

Like others I did have an issue with this case. All of a sudden the sides tore on the case and the Berry went falling out.

On the plus side I did contact the vendor and he immediately sent me a replacement case (received it in 3 days). He astated that he did have a manufacturing issue but this was resolved with the new cases.

At the same time I also bought a Fortte case wich I'm now sellings. To this day I'm still using the case from UniqueMobile case.

I stuck with the case from UniqueMobile as I like the:
- low profile swivel clip
- soft leather case
- flap that flips shut when you put the Berry in the case
