Alright, got the Vendor.xml file gone. Later when I have some time I am going to do the actual update. I just have a few questions.

-What is all this BES stuff people are talking about??? I'm a nOOb!!

-Should I take out my SD card before I back-up and then install? After the install is comeplete should I put the card back in?

I just don't want to fuzz up my BlackBerry. I havn't had it too long. LOL!

BES is Blackberry Enterprise Service, you use it with your work email.
I updated without taking my SD card out, it turned out fine.

andybob, I just realized after JS updated this thread...that I think your still talking about the previous OS version. So if you want to stay up with the up with us addicts, make sure you download the one that is now posted. Sorry. I should have noticed and mentioned this earlier.

I haven't seen any evidence of that yet. I have 22 megs of device mem. It's wavered within about a meg of that since this mornings install.

No worries abban. We've all been new. You should get rid of the vendor file (if it's there). The upgrade wont work if it's there, unless it comes from your carrier, which I don't think it does. And it is multi-language, including English. So you'll be fine. Good luck!

Grumpy, you downloaded the update as the instructions at the top of this thread say to?

abban, go to the trouble to double check the vendor file is gone. It's a pain to forget a little step and ruin the process. Regarding the DM, other carriers sites carry the Desktop Manager. I suggest looking here:
List Of Carriers

Here is a direct link to DM 4.5 b014. It's not the most recent, but it's close:
Blackberry

Good luck.

JS, I don't know if it was the name on the URL that spooked you. It wasn't actually a link to other instructions. It was an error. Sorry bud. Yours are the easiest, best I've found! Still love me!?

No no, I was just commenting in general that "these instructions work fine."

Any new upgrade thread we have the same 1,000 questions about deleting the vendor file, does this have English, can I put this on my 7280? etc. And I'm not complaining about the questions either, it's nice to have users interested and that is what the forum is for.

And I didn't write the instructions.. mostly old man John Clark responsible for that.

Is there a way to figure out what improvement or changes are done from the previous versions? I currently have the 4.5.0.81 (108) so it's the version prior to this one and don't really know if it would make sense upgrading again... Thanks

JS, I could see how some of it could be frustrating. My guess is language plays a problem a lot of the time. But I whole heartedly agree, it's great to have people interested.

lpcapital, usually after the update/upgrade (I never know which one is more proper) has been out for a while, people come here and talk about differences they've noticed. I'm not aware of a cut and dry list of improvements per update, but it would be nice.
