Problem adding contact in Blackberry Messenger
Please Login to Remove!
Hello all,
My girlfriend just got a new blackberry curve and I am not able to add her to the messenger contact list. I added her PIN to the contact list and she added my PIN in her contact list. Whenever I try to add her or she tries to add me, it stays pending forever. I have added other contacts before with no problem.
Any suggestions?

Weird, but recently happened to me & my hubby. He kept "adding a contact" (me) from his BB, I would accept, and I would never show up as a contact. He just kept adding me and I kept accepting for at least 4 times, it finally worked.

If I try to add her she does not get any type of prompt to accept, same happens if she tries to add me, I get no type of prompt to accept her. Makes no sense at all...

Can you send each other a regular pin message?

Nope cant send regular PIN requests. I think I figured it out. The rep that set her up at the store didn't put her on a blackberry data plan, they just had her on some other plan.

the same thing is happening to me whenever i try to add someone new...
it also happened to me when i tried to add someone i previously had on my contact list.. had conversations with etc, but accidentally deleted..
i got fed up with sending her add requests that would stay forever pending, so i just restored the latest backup i had on my computer to get her on my contact list again...
will deleting and reinstalling messenger help this problem?

Actually, this is still not working. Every time I send her a request to add her to the contact list, she gets an e-mail on her computer, but it gives no option to do anything. This is getting extremely frustrating...
Any ideas?
Also, I cannot PIN her and she cannot PIN me.

I am sort of having a similar problem... and honestly think I am not even adding the PIN number correctly.
Although I have a 8100, maybe this could help. I used the search and stumbled across this discussion.
I was thinking for those fairly new to BB (like myself) maybe someone could make a step by step instructs on how to do this. I have BB messenger contacts, but they sent me the request and I just accepted... I just haven't been able to add this one friend on my end.
Any help is, as always, much appreciated.
UPDATE: I kept searching and found an answer here. Thanks a bunch <3

My original thought was correct. I went to the AT&T store and the rep checked the plan and she was not on the correct plan. As soon as he changed it, the requests went through no problem.

Try to add the PIN# to that persons entry in the address book. Go the your address book highlight the contact, edit, add the PIN# where is says PIN. Try it again, it should work.

i have a similar issue. I cannot SEND PIN Messages, well it "says" it sends, and gets the D over the checkmark, but when someone sends them to me, it never gets to the handheld. I am running my own BES, and have set the policy to default, gone in created a custom policy to ALLOW everything, removed the user from the BES, and still no dice

I can send/receive PIN messages from the contact but we are not having success in adding one another for BB Messenger. She ends up with a request, approves it and then my name moves down to Pending. She remains Pending in my device forever. Her contact isn't on my BB but on the BES. Could this have something to do with it? Any way to copy that contact from the BES to my local storage Address Book?

yosi, I have had that problem before. You both might need to delete each others pending or invite in BBM. Clear both.
Then one of you add the other simply by typeing in the PIN. Add contact, scroll up to the USE ONCE selection in your address book, and click menu to ADD BY PIN and type in the the PIN there.

Also, after you do your Lookup, simply hit the menu key and there should be an option to add the contact to your address book.

Odd. I have a buddy who just got the Pearl with me. We attempted to add eachother for PIN messaging. Both of us have the others PIN in the contacts list. When we add eachother, we get the "pending" label that never goes away. Yet, we are still able to PIN eachother.
Anybody know why his name stays in "pending" rather than going under "contacts?"

It will stay pending until the other (the recipient) accepts the invite in BlackBerry Messenger.
