Angry Help: OpenMsgStore failed (8004011d)

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all hope someone can help me out here.

Running bes express and 2 exchange 2003 sp2 server (30 BES users) which we have been running OK now for about 8 months
BESX and Exchange1 are ate site1 (25 bb users)
Exchange 2 is at site2 (5 bb users)
same domain

Problem
We had a power outage outage today at site1 (BESx & Exchange1) and I couldn't shut down the servers before the UPS died and the servers went down. Things came back up ok but I notices that all users on the besx that have email account on the remote exchange server (site2) were not connecting. Last contact time is before the servers went down. They are still not connecting after a reboot of BESx and Exchange2. Users on the Exchange1 server are working fine.

Event Viewer has 2 errors for each user at Site2

event id:20154
User John Doe not started

event id:20400
(emai address) MAPIMailbox::MAPIMailbox - OpenMsgStore (0x8004011d) failed

I did also run an IEMStest and I get an error on OpenMsgStore failed (8004011d)

John Doe: OpenMsgStore failed (8004011d)

So it seems to me that its a permissions issue but I have checked the permissions for the beasadmin account on both exchange server they all seems correct.

any help is much appreciated.

0x8004011d means "The server is not available", so I don't think it is a permissions issue. For some reason it doesn't find your Exchange2 server. Try to re-create the MAPI profile.

Thanks for the reply. I tried to post the rest of the of the test yesterday but the board says I can't link external web sites but it worked now.

If it can't connect to the server why is cdo successful?

CDO is a different protocol than MAPI. Try to re-create the MAPI profile.

Not sure how to recreate the profile but I went to "edit MAPI Profile" put a different account applied it, then putback the besadmin account in and applied it rebooted the bes. (Besadmin account was hidden from the address book so had to unhide it not sure if that makes any difference or not.) Is this what you mean by recreating the profile?

One thing to note, the besadmin mailbox is located on exchange1. BB users on exchange1 work fine, exchange2 don't work. Does is need to be on both? Anyways rebooted and still the same issue.

here is a test with users on both servers

That should work without problem. Make a backup of the registry hive before proceeding. See details in:
