i have been playing around with my new pearl for the last 3 hours trying to figure out how to change the different sounds for text messages, e mails, phone calls and everything else that needs a sounds. right now when i receive an e mail it only flashes a red light, how do i change sounds for different things

Go to Profiles/Advanced. Then select the profile you want to edit and hit the Blackerry key. Then you can choose to either edit a profile or create a new profile. You can then select the ringer/tone to play when you get a new message or get a call. You can also have a different tune play whether it is in the holster (in standby) or out of the holster.

thanks, i'm sorry but i ask a lot of questions, is there a book or something i can get that talks about everything the pearl can do and how to do them??

Not that I'm aware of....and unfortunately, they give you the owner's manual in PDF format. I was considering printing it out, but it is over 200 pages long. And the help files on the phone really isn't much help. Also, because Verizon locked the GPS to VZ Navigator, the screen options for the GPS does not correspond to what shows in the PDF user's manual.
