Default Great install with .81 but lost Internet Ability

Please Login to Remove!

Installed ver4.5.0.81 which went flawless. I really like the OS changes but just noticed I lost my internet on At&t
First Home screen now reverts back to Cingular instead of At&t.
I went to options, and found
Blackberry Internet Service Connection: not connected.
I then pullup, Mobile Network Options and get
Data Services: On
Mobile Network: Cingular
But no connectivity via internet.

Pro Advise highly appreciated before I uninstall back to 4.3

Welcome to the Forums.

Does your signal on the homescreen indicate "EDGE" in all caps?

Look at Options > Advanced > Service Books. Is anything there? Any that have your email@address in it?

If not, go to Options > Advanced > HRT > Menu > Register. That should push your service books back to the device.

Try Options > Advanced > Host Routing Table, Press the Applcation Button (left of trackball) choose Register Now.

Wait a minute then try Internet again.

Neat idea Troy, that HRT thingy! j/k

Also, a battery removal, while powered on, replace and reboot, will often revive any connection issue you are having.

Edge is not capped, the service book does show my email address.
On the HRT I've sent the registration message a few times.
Have battery out reboot 3 times.
So far no go.
Thanks for your help if anything else comes to mind please let me know.

If it just says edge and not EDGE then you will get no data. Could be a local tower/carrier issue.

I am sure Jsanders and John Clark will have some more hints. Well if JSanders quits mocking me.

Your edge should be EDGE to show connection to the RIM proxy servers.

The revert of my service provider now saying cingular instead of at&t, I think is a factor somewhere.

The carrier name is brodcast from the tower. Nothing with the phone. So you are correct that may be a factor. They are either having a tower issue or have one that is down.

Like John said above.

If you are up for a troubleshooting road trip. Go take a drive, 2 to 5 miles into another cell tower area.

See if it works.

The carrier name is actually a combination of the software and network information.

I swapped sim cards with my other 8300. This issue phone was my Guinea pig.
And sure enough everything worked perfectly with zero problems.
On a side by side compare of the 2 sims., The one that worked was a newer att card circa April 2007.
The older card that caused the problem was a cingular card that was originally used in my Nokia E61 circa May 2005 and then swapped out and into my first 8300 back in April 2007. That card did work fine up to OS 4.3.
Thanks to all and their efforts, The FIX; I'm just going to get a new sim to replace the May 2005 chip.

You might want to check your provisioning. It's possible that the SIM is the culprit but provisioning issues with at&t aren't uncommon.

i had an OLD sim card bout 2 years ago. So old that it didn't even say cingular. It just one day made it so i have no bars, then i had to switch and it worked fine..

Lately, my cingular cards in my family (about 5 members) suddenly just stopped working. Like no service, no texting and no internet. then i just put in the ATT card, and it works fine.

ATT/Cingular i sware likes to mess with us, if we don't have the most up-to-date sim, they block us off :/
