Hi this is my first post, and my first blackberry I am in love with this phone but only problem is when ever I am surfing, at that very moment when the page is loading, any calls made to my no. Comes as engaged to callers can any thing be done to stop this from happening?

If I remember correctly, cell and data use the same data pipeline. So when you are using data, the bandwidth is occupied and therefore your callers are getting a busy signal.

I can receive calls while surfing the web, you cannot use the browser while on a call. Make sure you have call waiting active is the only thing I can think of, other than that it should work. I just tested it with my wifes phone and it rang right through.

EDGE and EVDO are completely different. IIRC EVDO should allow for simultaneous voice and data. What sort of coverage (what does it read by your signal strength) when this happens?

Well I am using reliance cdma I don't know much about the signals it happens when ever there are two arrows on the top right corner of my bb and when it is requesting script

Those two arrows means some sort of data activity is occurring. Can be voice or data.

I'm not sure if Reliance is EDGE or EVDO. If it's EDGE the problem you're talking about is expected.

Uhh, look at the title of the thread, where he says he's using an 8330, and one of his posts, where he mentions "Reliance CDMA." Its pretty clearly not EDGE, on an 8330 CDMA device. Whether or not "Reliance" has an EVDO network or an older CDMA only isn't known though.

Where do you live, where is "Reliance"??

ya i checked its evdo... reliance is the network provider in india. i am still having the problem

Here is the main issue with EV-DO. EV-DO means EVolution Data Optimized. That alone will tell you that you can only be on voice or data, not both simultaneously. Now if the CDMA carriers were to go with EV-DV (EVolution Data Voice), then both can happen with no problem.

As for the carrier Reliance, it sounds like they put priority on their data network and not on the voice. Which would be very odd ans frustrating for those emergency voice calls.

CDMA is data or voice, not both at the same time, GSM networks do seperate voice and data so they can be both going at once.

What youre experiencing is a limitation of CDMA unfortunately.
