Please Login to Remove!

So lately when i witch off carrier and keep wifi, i am able to browse but i am not getting emails and bbm. i cant send email and bbm also.

it depends, what colour is the wifi symbol on the phones screen? - it must be solid white for you to be connected to the RIM Relay via Wifi.

if you still want mails to come thru, but not txts, why not leave GSM on, and divert all calls to VM? - or alter your profile to silent.

I setup a profile for bedside mode when charging at night so it will be silent. Works well so far.

The Wi-fi symbol does not change colors any longer in OS 6.0 but rather the BB logo appears next to the wi-fi transmission symbol, to signify what used to be shown in solid white wi.fi logo, and which is that data transmission is taking place via the wi-fi.

Like the two recommendations in the above entries, I put my phone on silent at night, so that all continues to flow in, without disturbance.

if on wifi only and you are not getting the BB logo on your screen, you might have an issue with your router that it wont let you connect.

I had an issue with my routers QOS delaying the packets. after a firmware upgrade and removing QOS, I was able to access BIS and BES features over wifi.

there is also a transport method that i cant remember that your router must support as well.

i mentioned it start happening like this since RIM and UAE agreed not to ban blackberry service and as UAE announced they have reached the agreement with RIM, so i guess no carriers just blocking us to use emails and bbm via wifi, its goes only through carrie, is it possible as i think?

I think I might have the solution to your problem.

I called AT&T support again and was transfered to Level 2 support.

The issue at had was the following:

Blackberry Torch 9800

OS Version 6.0.0.141

There seems to be a bug in this version software in which there is a disconnect
of Blackberry services when the device switches between the mobile netowrk and
a WiFi network.

Once it switches to the WiFi network it is unable to switch back to the mobile network, thus the Blackberry 9800 inability to access BIS or BES.

To solve this problem, you need to wipe the Blackberry Torch by going to:

1. Options
2. Security
3. Security Wipe
4. Wipe the Emails, Contacts, etc...

Once this is done, the Blackberry Torch 9800 will function normally.

To my understanding, Du and Etisalat have switched off access to BBM and mail via Wifi, to "force" the traffic via their networks, and thus the servers installed with RIM.

We can still access the web via wifi, but not the two above mentioned functions (We know it due to the absence of the BB icon next to the wifi logo).

This is not a solution to the problem. Customer Service, Technical Support, Data Support or Laptop Support from AT&T could of told you to do that. I do not work for AT&T and could of told you to do that.

Ahmedov, don't lose your time with a wipe. I think this "suggestion" is baseless.

As I told you in a previous post, it is a forced traffic blockage by Du and etisalat while you're in the UAE.

When you travel the connexion via wi-fi resumes normally.

I am now outside the UAE and it is working fine. When I was in Dubai last week it was not working for me or any of my friends.

Yes you are right, i did wipe it didnt help, as i thought its UAE problem, and this morning i got sms from provider that on 14 Nov between 6am-10am blackberry service wont be available in UAE due the maintenance by RIM.
i am sure it has nothing to do with RIM, its their local maintenance, that they are putting some more bugs to spy on users.

i cant believe it, did RIM actually provide them with codes?
