Default Transitioning from 8100 to 8120, Wifi Question.

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, I dropped my 8100 in the sink today. I took out the battery and put it over the heating vent in a room in my house and hopefully it will be okay. However, and I know this is evil, but I hope this gives me an excuse to get a 8120 which I have wanted for some time now.

Background information before the question:

I have T-Mobile, with a 19.99 blackberry data plan, and I'm in contract for another year and 8 months or so. I live in Michigan, US.

I saw some good pearl 8120s on craigslist and I would like to pick one up.

I have a question about the Wifi, I did search in the threads and I learned a bit, but not all my questions were answers.

I travel to Canada frequently, and I have to turn off my 8100 phone completely or turn off the radio so I don't get any calls or Blackberry messages and get charged. I usually stay in a hotel with internet access, and I was wondering, if I get the pearl 8120, will I be able to connect and use the Wifi of the hotel on my phone so I can make send BB messenger messages and PINs and use internet? (The hotel I stay at does offer Wifi internet that I use on my laptop every time I go). I read about UMA calling when I searched the threads, and it seems you need to buy that service, so I don't think that will work, but I'm more concerned about being able to recieve Blackberry messages and such. Also, would it be possible to disable all calls, and just enable the wifi data services? I don't want to be charged at all.

I'm sorry if my questions are a little convoluted, and if they have already been asked. I did do a search and I learned a bit about it, but did not find those specific questions.

Thanks,
Kase
