Hi, I just got my 8830 and I love it. I am having trouble with music. I saved a CD to a folder in Media manager, but the title and artist does not show up on my device. It just lists all the songs. I hard something about tagging the songs.

CAn someone please tell me step by step what i avhe to do from the point of saving the CD to my computer to download it so it is tagged properly.

I am reading things and I even tried Media Monkey to no avail. Am I missing something??

Frustrated!!!!

Thanks.

Thanks, I'll check that out. I hope it tags it. That's where I am having trouble.

Do you run iTunes? If so maybe you should load the songs in iTunes and reformat the title. Sometimes it is just the way information is formatted on the file. Try ripping the CD onto iTunes, renaming everything the way you want it and then try loading it back onto you device.

Do you have a program for managing tags on mp3s? I like Dr. Tag. I found that the BB player prefers ID3v1 tags, and if the v1 fields weren't filled, the v2 tags weren't reliably read. There's a good discussion of tags here (ignore the parts about emplode or the riocar player).

I used Dr. Tag to copy all my v2 tags into the v1 fields, then copied the MP3s back onto the BB and all was well. (Except for the clicks and pops between songs, that is. I still have no idea how to clear that up.)

When you first rip and encode a CD into MP3s, whatever program you use should give you the opportunity to enter at least the artist, album, song title, year, genre, and track. I don't have an iPod and don't use iTunes. I like Exact Audio Copy for the ripping and encoding step. There's an option in EAC to look up the CD on the freedb database - an online database of CDs with mostly accurate info. Always double check what it fills in!

If you don't enter the info before you rip and encode, you have to put it there manually after. If the MP3 encoding software doesn't put the tags in as ID3 v1, or you didn't enter all the info before, that's where Dr. Tag comes in as I posted earlier.

Default Keep ID3 Tags for Artist, Album etc.

I found similar problems and cause I use iTunes as my primary way to get music I just couldnt be bothered to do all the work arounds bit by bit... check out BlackBerryJukeBox.com... You can keep all the tack tags and stuff you want so tunes appear in Media Player properly.
