Default How can I add custom ringtones ?

Please Login to Remove!

This is kind of a goofy question....

How can I add ringtones to my blackberry when the .mp3 files are on my computer? I did it all the time for my RAZR - but this is just a bit different

Update:

I've connected my laptop to my 8700g via: bluetooth to try and transfer a file, but it won't transfer. I've never had problems with transferring .mp3 files this way with all my other phones. Anyone know if there are any tricks to get a custom .mp3 onto my blackberry for a custom ringtone?

Please utilize the search button, as this has been addressed in a few threads.

From another thread and our buddy LGreenberg:

1. Upload the mp3 file here: http://www.coolservice.dk/en/compatibilities.php
2. Go the link provided using your Blackberry's Internet Browser.
3. Enter the code you were given when you uploaded the file.
4. Download the mp3.

It doesn't get any easier than that.
I use his method for all my custom mp3 rings.

In addition, bluetooth can be used for sync, but not data transfer.

I have errors on that site when uploading a file. Will do what you suggested on my other post about a small file size

It appears to be a problem with that web site. Nothing much anyone here can do.

I've also been recommending this to people lately.

Depending on who your ISP is you may be able to host the files yourself. For example, my provider Verizon allows me to create my own web site. To the site I am able to upload media files (mp3, image etc.)

You could very easily create your own site, upload the ringtones then browse to the site via your BB and download them.

Another possibility: if you have a Yahoo account (i.e. email which is free), you also get a service called Yahoo Briefcase. You can upload files there then surf to it on your Blackberry and download. That's how I transfer my MP3 and .wav ringtones.

...or get a Gmail account, mail the tones to yourself, then visit http://m.gmail.com from your BB. Lots of ways to skin this cat!

(This is also how you'll get wallpaper to your BB.)

If you have access to a MS Exchange account using MS Outlook web access you can e-mail the file to yourself and then use Outlook Web Access to open the e-mail and save the file onto your BB...

Default An other way

For those of you with websites, upload them to your site, then download them onto your BB.

Nice and easy
