I was running 4.6.0.147 (an upgrade that went flawlessly) and just upgraded to 4.6.0.150. The OS upgrade seemed to be rolling along well until near the end when on completion it reported that the restore process had failed.
I tried to restore from a backup I'd made just prior to the upgrade and the restore progress bar seems to just flicker to the end then disappear. On the device, the unit remains unrestored.
I close and restart BB Desktop and even battery pull the Bold. When the device connects to BB Desktop I get an application window telling me that I have updates available. They are a couple of language packs and the Core Applications. I click to accept these but the application update reappears the next time as well.
When attempting to sync I get an Intellisync error box appearing stating the following:
"Failed to connect to the device. Please make sure that the device is properly connected and try again."
The device works but is unable to restore and unable to sync.
Update: I've reinstalled BB Desktop Manager and USB drivers and I don't think it's anything at the desktop level. I've also tried to connect the upgraded Bold to another computer where no changes were made and I get the same error message.
It appears that my Bold does not want to sync via Intellisync. The restores are also still not working.
Further update: I did a Master Reset. I was then able to connect (finally) and perform a restore. Oddly, several applications did not restore so I am now reinstalling them.
Yeah... I saw something similar. I got everything working... but if I try to backup now, I get Database Error. Backup Failed.
I tried restoring the databases from a "Switch Device" backup... and they did replace... but I still have an error on back up. The only real option I see is to do a wipe and start over. Which is probably what I will do when I can spare a couple of hours. Everything is working right now. But I am sure the next OS upgrade will fail because I can't get a full error free backup. :(
Just a matter of having the time to do the full rebuild. Such is the life of using beta software.

For me I had something similiar, but my upgrade interrupted early in the process.
For me, I think the USB connection got borked, very early in the upgrade process -- a full computer AND blackberry reboot solved that. I had a similiar problem when I upgraded my old .125 all the way directly to .162, my solution was:
The computer thought the BlackBerry was still connected, even though I had already disconnected, and tried to reboot the BlackBerry manytimes. This led me to think that the USB port in Windows must have gotten messed up. So, I did:
- Reboot the computer
- Reboot the BlackBerry (it was still in the old OS)
- Cleared the browser cache.
- Directly connect BlackBerry to PC (bypassing hub), to be safe
- To be safe, I did a selective backup (Advanced section of Backup/Restore in BlackBerry Desktop), skipping the sections (Profiles) that didn't backup properly in the normal one-click Backup.
- Try again to install .162
No need for wiping the handheld in this particular case. It worked fine, and went to the very end. I think it's now co-operating very well. All apps got restored, though I had to reconfigure the settings of some apps (just a few, such as GMAIL Mobile and Rove MobileSSH)
May still need to wipe handheld in your case, but first: If you are able to restore, try a selective restore in the Advanced part of the backup/restore -- see if you're able to skip over databases you're unable to restore. This _may_ fix the synchronize and also restore most of your databases. No guarantees...
