Default MS SQL Database Creation Problem

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to set up a new BES 4.0 Server.

Environment setup:
Exchange 2000 running on Windows 2000
BES 4.0 running on windows 2003
MS SQL 2000 runing on same server as BES.

When trying to complete the Blackberry enterprise configuration wizard. I am presented with the following message.

DB Upgrade Failed: Error Executing An SQL Statement.

This occurs whether I am creating a new DB throught the wizard or with a empty DB with the correct account permissions created.

I have followed the Installation guide in the manual and I believe I have set all the required permissions for the windows account and the sql account.

The only part of the SQL installation I am unsure on is whether the server is set to Case-sensitive collation as it was setup as part of an existing application install.

I appreciate any help that can be provided.

Thankyou

the std path would be C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BES\
Just send the installation.log

A case sensitive server collation will cause it to fail. You can check this by right-clicking the SQL Server in Enterprise Manager and selecting Properties.

installation.log wouldn't have much I expect...
Search for db_install*.log you'll have better luck figuring out what happened with that.

That error "DB Upgrade Failed: Error Executing a SQL Statement", usually happens when a database was created using the SQL enterprise manager tool and the wizard is run during the BES install. Delete the db from SQL using the SQL manager, clear/remove the ODBC settings on the BES server and restart the SQL server services.
Re-run the BES install and you should be ok.

I had the same problem initially but it turned out to be a simple authentication problem. The system I was installing BES on is a domain controller. For some reason the BES setup program did not have the intelligence to add the appropriate sting to the account name. I attempted to connect to the DB as a local user rather than an active directory user. I simply changed the username to "username.doman" rather than just "user" This fixed me right up after I gave the user permission to create and modify databases. I was using MSDE 2000 as the sql backend. I know this thread is pretty much dead but hopefully it will help someone. If this doesn't work, remember to use the search button. There is an unlimited amount of info on this site. Cheers

Shouldn't. The BES install will create the DB and set up the connections

I have this problem too. I try to run the table.sql script in sql analyzer on the sqlserver, but i see a very lot of error in that. I repair some error (small and big characters...)
But I Don't know wath can I do whit this:
Server: Msg 1776, Level 16, State 1, Line 8
There are no primary or candidate keys in the referenced table 'ServerConfig' that match the referencing column list in the foreign key 'FK_ServerStats_ServerConfig'.
Server: Msg 1750, Level 16, State 1, Line 8
Could not create constraint. See previous errors.
.......

The db creating is runing away to this error message.
Any idea?

Thanking in advance.
