This article actually exactly describes my problems with Audibleair... I managed to install an older version (1.0.55?) and it loaded fine, recognized the books I loaded on the SD alright, but I wasn't able to activate my account.
I got my hopes up with 1.0.68 but clearly it's got a glitch! Thanks for forwarding to the audible guys and any advice! Cheers!

Try the XML config file referenced a few posts up.

Sorry for being such a newbie but just to confirm I did this right:
I copied the code into notepad and saved the file in the root directory as follows: music/audible/audibleprofile.xml
Didn't do anything even after a reboot...
Is there any other way to add my 8100 as a device on Audible media Manager?! maybe you could suggest this as a solution to your contacts? would solve most of our problems!!
Cheers!

You saved it to your device memory and not the MicroSD card, correct? I would CAP the A and the P. The File systems appears to be CAP sensitive.

No dice... put it in Device memory/home/user/music/audible/AudibleProfile.xml
and in the SD card Music/audible (where audible recognizes my Wall Street Journal .aa file)
I even downgraded to 1.0.58... all I want to do it to sign in so I can listen to my files!!! My BES doesn't allow it....
I think I might have to wait for my firm to upgrade to OS 4.5. maybe 1.0.68 is incompatible with OS 4.2??
Cheers again!!!

Oh that... Get back on the new version and do this:
(As long as your IT Policy doesn't block carrier service books)
options/advanced/service books and delete Desktop [IPPP]?
You can press menu and undelete it afterwards as long as that is the only service book you delete.
You only need to do this during your actual communication with Audible. Once it is "logged-in" once, you don't need to connect to them anymore as long as you transfer content from PC.

B-I-N-G-O
Had to downgrade to 1.0.58 but managed to login and everything works as well as expected...
Listened to my first WSJ subscription on my BB and even managed to download over EDGE (TMobile)...
1.0.68 still doesn't work on my BB but until my firm upgrades the OS to 4.5, I'll just live with it.
Thanks again Grimlin!!

Drop into /music/audible folder in main memory.

We can also try changing packet sizes and enabling the logs...
Code:
<connection>
<defaultProfile>N</defaultProfile>
<customProfile>
<HTTP>1</HTTP>
<BIBS>0</BIBS>
<MDS>2</MDS>
</customProfile>
<BIBSpacketSize>512</BIBSpacketSize>
<MDSpacketSize>512</MDSpacketSize>
<enableLog>N</enableLog>

Grimlin, is that REALLY how the config file is supposed to look? I confess I was confused when I first read it. The 3 BlackBerry communication options are BES/MDS, BIS-B, and Direct TCP. I gather apparently the "HTTP" refers to direct TCP and "BIBS" is simply a misspelling of BIS-B? They're going to really cause a lot of confusion with that "BIBS" thing, and to a lesser extent with "HTTP", you should tell them to go with the standard names - assuming I've figured out what that file is supposed to do.

That is what I was told, but like you am skeptical as I see no differences. I asked for clarification, but have gotten no reply as of yet. Sorry, but my postings have become erratic and will continue to be at least through this week. I have had some family issues crop up. Nothing life threatening, but it does have to be dealt with.

Hey, no problem, you've put a lot of time into this, and both family AND job have to come first. Hope you get the issues dealt with satisfactorily soon.

Looks like we lost some info due to the hard drive crashes. I will Rebuild the top post of the thread from Google's Cache.

memory loss
My bf has an 8300 ... he has somehow managed to find version 1.0.70 of audible air (wasnt with him when he DL it, dont know where he found it) but he has also had version 1.0.68 (that I put on it) and ever since he has been having memory wipe issues (SMS and call logs deleting randomly) ... has anyone else had this issue or know of a fix? His phone has never done this in the past.

This happens on a blackberry to conserve memory. It will always automatically drop off old messages (SMS, email, call logs). However, if he has significantly less memory due to storing audio content in main memory, this could be worsened. I would recommend three things.
1) Reset the device by removing the battery. This will force a garbage cleanup routine for the device.
2) Remove the Audible player completely. Reinstall, but make sure you do not download the free content.
3) Make sure that you store all audio books, pictures, music, videos, etc. on a memory card.

I'm trying to figure out a pattern to the audio books stopping by themselves and going back to 00:00 (section 1). It's happened several times now, with no apparent reason. And the fast forwarding issue continues, independent of what title I'm listening to. (RW seems OK).
I'm beginning to wonder if it's my O/S. I'm running 4.2.1.96 on an 8100.
Everything else is working fine on my BB. I'm hesitant to upgrade if I don't have to and the only issue is AudibleAir.
But, if someone else is running a later O/S on an 8100 and ISN'T having these issues, let me know what version you're running and I may bite the bullet and upgrade.

Sorry, I know the device does this to "self help" itself. He has the audible set to store the content to the MicroSD card. He has uninstalled the audible player several times from what I can get him to tell me and reinstalled it. He states that he has never tried to dl any of the "free" content from the audible player. He tells me that he dl's his books from the website via his computer and transfers them to the MicroSD card.

Somehow my audible air does not auto-download my subscriptions (subscribed to wsj). I have set the auto refresh time to 6-7 a.m. and refresh threshold (what is this??) to 60 mins. Are you guys having similar problems? Does anyone have any suggestions?
I was able to auto-download with some of the earlier versions (1.0.65).

I am on a really old audible plan. I do not have subscriptions. Hopefully someone else will jump in and help answer that.

I have one weekly subscription, with a new issue due sometime tomorrow. I just checked, and didn't have "auto-download" checked. I've checked it now, and will report back.

I have the auto-download featured selected. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't work with this version. There doesn't seem to be a logical explanation for when it works and when it doesn't work.

Subscription issues
When I download a subscription OTA (New York Times audio digest) it will sometimes download, automatically, sometimes not. However, when I do receive the automatic download I have playback issues. It will randomly stop during a section. When I press play (#5) rather than begin where it left off it skips ahead several sections.
This seems to be a new "quirk" with this release.
I've reported this to Audible.

Still having trouble with moving between book sections and FF'ing or rewinding. This version doesn't unexpectedly take me back to the beginning of the book every time I try to move to another section.
However, about half the time, it ignores my pressing the 7 or 9 keys. Or, the display will show that I've moved to another section, but what I'm hearing doesn't change.
The rewind and FF keys work more often than not when I press and hold them down, but I have the same problem with them, where the display changes but what I'm hearing doesn't.
In both cases, there may be a short hiccup, but then the narrative starts up again right where I left off.
Has anyone else had the app turn off their radio, so incoming messages aren't received?
