Was the 7100 the first BlackBerry to have separate settings for in and out of the holster? Since the 8700c comes with a plastic swivel holster, is it probable that the in and out of holster settings will not be on the 8700c?

I have a swivel holster in my 7250 and it has settings for ina nad out of the holster, that feature is controlled bya magnet. The swivel has nothing to do with it.

Does anyone know when the 8700 will be available for Verizon?

I did not think the swivel would affect it, but thought the plastic may. I knew my 7100g holster had a magnet in it, but did not know if the plastic holster would. Thanks.

EVERY Blackberry for YEARS has had in- and out-of-holster settings. The 7100 was not the first. Yes, the 8700 will have a magnet in the holster, just like the 6200 series, the 6700, the 7200, and the 7700. Even the old-school 950 or whatever it was from four years ago had a magnet in the holster.

Wow, nice pictures.
The 8700 will be mine this X-Mas! Now I just gotta get rid of my awful t-mobile 7290!

One thing about the 8700 shell. It looks a little 1980's in color and design. Whiles the screen looks awesome, the rest of it looks bland, boxy and cheaper than the 7280 and 7290 sleek curvy exterior.
Its not in my hand as yet so I can't judge...but style wise is the 8700 sleeker than the 7290?
I'm sure it's better function wise...

Wait till you put in your hand. I don't think you will be disappointed. My 7100 is crap compared my old 7280 in terms of build quality. The 8700 matches the 7280 IMO after using one at a launch party.

people make fun of my current BB, a 7290 because of its size. They will hold a wallet to their ear and act as if that is their phone to poke fun. I think this device will make them drool. I want one!

I guess tastes are different, to me "sleek and curvy" is so 1990s. All of the current model materialistic stuff seems to have "edge" or "new edge" styling. Just look at all of the cars. Maybe pewter gray is making a comeback as the "new" black. I dunno.

For me faster responsiveness from the device and a better screen are nice improvements. Personally I like the the blue exterior of the 7510 and 7230. I think it wears and weathers a little better. Even if they are blueberrys. Right now I'm just looking for a rugged device. To me a business tool, plain and simple. But I do respect the aesthetic concerns. That's understandable and reasonable to me. I think that's partially why the Treo 650 sells so well.
