This morning I noticed that AIM and ICQ were disconnected. I tried to connect and received the following error:

expected: START_TAG {null}

<account>@1:36 in
Java.io.InputStreamReader

I clicked ok and then my AIM and ICQ contacts were shown as connected, but the icons at the top are still grayed out.

I did a force shutdown and reconnected and is working now.

The same thing happened to me, I have a blackberry 7520. It is now working.

we had a server upgrade in anticipation for .26 that introduced a backwards incompatibility. it impacts logging in one account at a time, logging all should still work fine.

should be patched shortly, sorry for the inconvenience.

Default aim.connected.too.much

Is it correct to assume that the "aim.connected.too.much" error is related to the server .26 pre-upgrade?

I notice sometimes when in a conversation I will get a message a user sent me repeated a few threads later in the chat.

I have to say this program is much better then any chat program I have used on any device and I have tried them all. I like something that is reliable and stays connected.

Also when you send a message it goes from grey to black. Does it mean it was sent when it turns black? Usualy it is within a second but sometimes can take 10-20 secs. 5 bars.

Default Build 0.5.26 Available

This includes a number of small enhancements and bugs fixes. Some of more visible ones are highlighted below:

Key New Features

- Buddy Pounce. Once set for a specific offline buddy, you will get an alert (customizable via Alerts Profiles) the next time that person comes online. You will also get a popup prompting to start a conversation.
- Nickname edits. You can now change your buddy's nickname in the buddy info screen. The nickname field is an editable field. You also have the option of specifying a nickname when you add a buddy.
(Note: nicknames are not currently supported for Yahoo. Enter one for Yahoo will not do anything).
- Move buddies between groups. There is a new "move buddy" option on the buddy list screen, which allows you to move the person to another group (or "unfiled", which removed any group assignment). You also have an option of creating a new group to put the person in.
- Quick chat switching on the regular (non-patched) builds. From the text field where you enter a message, as long as the field is empty, you can double-click "enter" to switch to the next open conversation. We're still playing with the best shortcut key, most likely will make this a preference in the future..

Bug Fixes:

- The disconnect problem on 8700G where the app disconnects (you'll see a persistent 503 error when sending) and won't allow you to re-login until after force shutdown is fixed.
- Alerts problem for when you use the "End Call" or "App Switcher" to put JiveTalk in background is fixed.
- The problem where your status changes back to "available" after a reconnect has been fixed.

Notification emails will be sent shortly. If you originally installed JiveTalk OTA, you should be able to upgrade from directly within the app.

Today is the first day I noticed a significant battery drain.
I chatted more today than before, and have an additional account added for MSN as well. Where before it was only 1 on ICQ.

I'm on a Pearl, running OS .64, on TMo USA, JT build .25.

Just upgraded to .26 tonight.

Love this program! Great work! Eagerly awaiting the launch so I can get all my BB friends and co-workers on it!

Love this application, but just upgraded to .26 and I encountered some issues. I was getting the 400 Bad Request Error Message and was unable to pull up my contact list.

--I spoke with Kai, who was extremely helpful and gave me a setting which immediately resolved my issue --

In preferences:

Where the advanced connections parameters says DEFAULT, change it to |direct=false

this resolved the issues that I was having and I am back up and running.

Still getting pretty serious battery drain on 8700c, bis, cingular. Otherwise, the connectivity problems have been fixed and jivetalk .26 seems more reliable than .25.

I installed it on my BB 8700c using desktop manager. I signed on to aim without any problems using my sn. Odd reason I do not see any of my buddies on the buddy list at all.

I do get a aim.signon.timeout message.

Thanks for helping out the BB users though

New BB Pearl and JiveTalk user here. I was using IM+ for a while. It's a decent app, but this is really a lot better just from an aesthetic standpoint alone. The service login sequence is MUCH faster with Jivetalk. It only takes a few seconds before I am connected to AIM, ICQ, MSN and Yahoo on my Cingular service.

I am aware that the nickname editing isn't available for Yahoo yet; if you folks at beejive.com are reading this, I've made an observation. I installed the Yahoo client on my workstation and made a nickname change to the contact info. When I logged off and then logged onto Yahoo on Jivetalk, it did not reflect the nickname change. Apparently this information is stored locally, so you don't really need to sync it with the Yahoo server. I think that's the best way to go anyway.

I'd like to thank you guys for accepting my application to the beta test. It's working great so far, and I will give it a good workout since I IM from my BB regularly.

We did make a change in this build to the way the app connects to the server. Previously everything went through port 80, with .26, the app initiate the signon sequence on port 80 but then uses a higher port for subsequent traffic.

This causes a problem when your BES server or your carrier is blocking traffic on higher ports. This setting "|direct=false", when added to your connection parameters, will tell the app to go back to connecting everything through port 80.

Most likely you'll run into this problem only if you're on BES. Most carriers do not block ports on their direct TCP connections.
