I just upgraded to .71 but now I have the Suitcase back on the main screen and I am not hooked up with my company's BES. Of course, it is a weekend and the IT people aren't around to give me the activation password so I am stuck without email (a blessing? ha).
Just curious if y'all have found that each time you upgrade the OS that you have to re-activate the BES account?
Thanks for the help.
BTW, the instructions on how to upgrade here are phenomenal. Just walked through the steps and I am no IT manager.
For background, I am on Cingular and was upgrading the Cingular software. I did delete the vendor.xml file and am wondering if I shouldn't have since I was upgrading a cingular pearl with new cingular software.

I dont thing thier is a way.

I can "compose" an email to anyone in my address book but because I don't have any mail profile set up it says that it will just store it in "drafts".
Thanks for the response though. Kind of annoying to have to have them re-activate but perhaps that is so guys like me don't just start upgrading their devices on their own! ha.

HUH? Yes it does. Click on BlackBerry Pearl (8100c) on the dropdown box, then click NEXT, then it will show you two options:
Pick the first download link, which will go to package 4.2.0.88 (.71 OS)

Did you make sure to add wap.voicestream.com (that's if you're on TMO, I dunno the one for Cingy) to your TCP setting?

I installed this last night and have to say, I'm not very pleased with it. I find my device to be slower and less responsive. I've find that the hourglass is cropping up more and more, especially in places where I haven't seen it before.
It seems that this release also increases the sensitivity of the trackball. Now, setting at 100 makes it downright unusable and setting it at 90 makes it "sticky".
Also, for the first time since I've had the device (purchased 12/1/06), two different callers have complained about the audio quality of the speaker phone. For six weeks, I've been using the speaker phone in the car, at the house, in the office, and not one person has said anything. Today, the first call I used it on, the person immediately said, "what are you, in a tunnel? I can barely hear you." I then called someone else to confirm and, without telling them that I was using the speaker, they also complained about the quality.
I think I'm going to downgrade to the earlier version that came with the phone. I'm just concerned that any further updates will include the, in my opinion, poison code that is in this one.

I've been running the .69 OS but looks like I'll have to download the .71 OS now. Gonna download the OS update now... I'll chime in later on if I notice any differences in performance.

Ok I have upgrade the OS before (the last upgraded OS for Cingular). I was also able to edit the alx file and install it without any problems (I was so happy I did not screw anything up lol), but now I cannot see my alx file anywhere. Getting frustrated here. Am I doing something wrong. Major brain oozes here I guess. Thanks.

One thing this OS has not fixed is the issue of the Ring Tone assignment to a contact. I still have to reboot (remove the battery) for it to take effect.

One last question before I plunge in for the upgrade:
Will the new Cingular update remove my present BB Dimension and Zen Themes?
Thanks,

Did you ininstall Tasks when your loaded your software? I've encountered the same problem after updating the software on my BB and had Tasks uninstalled... When I reinstalled Tasks, berry411 worked again...

Were you connected to your corporate network (e-mail) when you did the upgrade? If so, then it would have reconnected just fine. If not, you may have to wait until you get connected and them work with your IT group to get Enterprise Activation established. It works very well if you are connected to your network.
