I'm still torn between waiting on Bold or getting the iPhone.

Most important to me are battery life, phone functionality, and browser.

I am just not convinced on the Bold browser and trackball. Currently use a 8700c.

Should I wait?

The Bold does not have a trackwheel.

Choose according to your needs. There are numerous iPhone comparisons on the forum here. If web browsing is important to you--get the iPhone.

If email, dependability, security and peace of mind is of concern, keep your BB or get a Bold.

Sorry, I meant trackball instead of trackwheel. Freudian slip.

I have never used a trackball...can you adjust the sensitivity in the settings?

Can you "click" the trackball like you can the trackwheel?

I want a phone that has it all, good phone quality, good browsing, dependability. Does such a device exist?

It's called blackberrryforums, not closeminded peabrains!
I have used Blackberry's for years and don't have one single negative thing to say about them. As for all the stories about 24 out of 25 iphone users returning them, wake up and smell the coffee.
I have had a new 3g iphone for less than a week and am pleasantly surprised, in fact Very surprised how good it really is. I don't have any reason to lie one way or the other. I'm still waiting for the Bold to come out so I can compare them, but so far, the new iphone is better than any Blackberry I've ever used yet.
I can't wait for all the so called experts that haven't played with an iphone for more than an hour at a time, if that long, to tell me how delusional I am.

That said, (and well said Thank-you) how many corporate users have time to surf the web anyway...??

Yes, you can get a great experience using the iPhone looking at the internet with the nice screen but honestly, I just don't have time. To me the iPhone is an expensive conversation piece. (imho)

that's what I did... I love it but honestly, I liked the overall size of the iphone :P it was a good size. My curve is smaller. But the Bold will fix that

I have the iphone 3g as a second device. Its nice but not a Blackberry.
Iphone is great if you want lots of media at hand and great web surfing.
Blackberry still is my main device for total all in one smartphone.

I have a first gen iPhone as my second device (I am just outside of 3G coverage where I live and work so 3G is moot for me) and my Curve as my daily driver.

For me it's not an apples to apples comparison. My Curve is my workhorse and my iPhone can sort of fetch my e-mail. But that's fine because on weekends I don't want to have my email. I want a break from work. So, I use the iPhone. I see no reason to have to choose one or the other since I am resourceful enough to make it work to have both. So, I do. And that's fine and dandy. Go me and stuff.

I hope I don't have to wait until November but I am technically eligible for an upgrade then so the closer to November the release date becomes the easier it is for me to get it at upgrade price.

There's always other toys to play with in the meantime.

But, my birthday is Sept. 8, so I wouldn't mind if it came out next month so it could be a birthday gift to myself.

Default i also returned my iPone in less than 24 hrs

set up exchange email and settings very easy.... email way too slow, however HTML reading was quite nice, battery life sucked, also missed BB Messenger

If I was going to have 2 devices, the 2nd would be an iPhone, but not as a daily driver.

It just occurred to me, RIM should combine the Thunder and the Bold, release it only on AT&T and call it the Blunder!

Ahhh, never mind they already made one of those!

From our regional rep:

"It appears that other carriers around the world are starting to launch the Bold. AT&T views the Bold as one of the most important additions to our device portfolio this year and AT&T wants to start offering the device to customers as soon as possible. With that said, AT&T is not going to release the Bold until it passes AT&T Mobilityxxx8217;s very stringent certification process. The device is still in the AT&T labs and we feel itxxx8217;s not ready today for our customers. There are many factors at play that can impact the launch but we are still on target to have the Bold available sometime between now and November.

AT&T has worked very hard to become the world leading provider of Blackberry service and we are not going to risk losing our leadership position with the large enterprise by releasing a device that is not enterprise ready.

I will follow up again as I receive any updates regarding AT&Txxx8217;s launch date for the Bold. Thank you for your patience."

So "between now and November"

Sounds like they are struggling to get it out before Christmas!

Ho Ho Ho!

I just spoke to AT&T and they gave me an "official" release date of September 12th.
