I agree. But Beejive better take notice. IM+ has added some great features. If Beejive doesn't get with the program their clear lead will be reduced.

Wirelessly posted (8320 Curve: BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I tried both of them via trial. Had a lot of issues with IM+. Jivetalk may lose some features, but its more stable as I can see it.

Needless to say, I spent 14.99 *cough*crackberry forum has a discount code*cough* and am satasfied with my jivetalk

I'm a die hard JiveTalk user. Just hoping Beejive keeps up so that they stay on top.

IM+ is just unstable - tried this product on all platforms with same results - service can never figure out why, they send you a debugg file and thats it - no solutions. Jive talk is better

i haven't tried IM+ either, but agree that some of the features they have been adding need to make their way into JT, IMHO... a custom-colored LED indicator on new message would be nice.

I have IM+ and enjoy the features it has. I especially like the translator and SMS feature, (which is useful if texting to other countries).

I have had IM+ since i got my 7105 about 2 years ago... i had some issues with it when i moved to a pearl and stopped using it... Now that i have a curve i figured id give it another shot with the new version... After a few days of use ive noticed there are still some issues... the most annoying is that it randomly decides that most of my contacts are offline even though i may have been in a conversation with them... Now since they are offine it wont let me send them any messages but will randomly recieve messages from some of the "offline" people but i cant reply... this seems to be rectified by disconnect/reconnect most of the time but tonight not even that will do it... thats why im in this thread... i think it might be time from something new...

I haven't installed a chat program on my Blackberry, but it came with BB Mesenger. While snooping through the Modules listed in Options>Advanced Options>Applications>Modules, there is one labeled "net_rim_bb_implus_app".

Does this pertain to the im+ application you're referring to, and if so, why is this module pre-installed? Otherwise, does anyone know what it is? I have only installed one application thus far, "WorldMate Live", and have removed it.

I have just started using the trial for JiveTalk, seems to be doing want and more, I love accesses all my I'm accounts threw one centralized program I wish I had this for my laptop.

My only concern with JiveTalk is, the first time I tried logging in, chatting and everything my connection my dropped from their server, because when I tried to send a message it told I wasn't logged in and I couldn't log out or back in, I had to pull the battery. So far it has only done this once to me, but is this going to turn into a reoccuring problem?

Also a quick question on IM+, since I like to keep an open mind and explore all my options, does IM+ use my data plan like JiveTalk advertises or does IM+ rely on SMS messages?

IM+ uses data. I've seen the JT server go down on rare occasion. That's the only time I have issues unless I'm out of coverage for quite some time, then JT logs itself off. Other than that it's a smooth app. I think you'll be happy with it.

Dear users,

I can't even express the feelings about the news I'm going to tell you now!
IM+ All-in-One Mobile Messenger was updated with an absolutely new feature that won't leave you behind!

NEW IM PUSH TECHNOLOGY!!!

You don't have to keep the IMs running anymore, don't waste your battery life, stay with the email if you are used to work with it!

When closing the IM+ select "IM Push" mode to leave all of your IMs online!

Received messages will be forwarded as emails to your BlackBerry mailbox!

Your replies will be sent as instant messages to your contacts!

Your battery receives a new chance to live longer!
Your time is saved as you are staying with the email, no background applications to switch between!

Download the latest v. 6.0 of IM+ and stay with IM Push

Don't forget to post your impressions here

You can add translation bots yourself to any gchat:
go to google.com/support/talkgadget/bin/answer.py?answer=89921

Jivetalk is great indeed as well though and is a very lightweight program that is offered cheaper compared to IM+. Jive for 29.99 vs IM+ for 49.99. I think the custom alerts on IM+ also can be set for each contact as well. I havent ever seen anything like that.

Which do you guys like better and why? I'm about to spend the money on one of these programs for my blackberry and am torn between the 2.

I own both, and I'd have to give Jive Talk the nod. IM Plus is very unstable - in my opinion. It has issues with services not staying logged in. IM Plus eats y our battery away much faster too. Haven't really tried their new IM Push mode yet.

Jive Talk isn't perfect either though. I had several pending friend requests on one of the services, and Jive Talk never alerted me of them. I did not even know until I logged in using a PC client.

While neither is perfect, one is a lot more reliable than the other, and costs half as much =)
