anyone?

I also heard 5/25 date instead of 5/28 for the store release. Which is correct?
I have a Bus. account, I'm not sure if normal customers can get it yet or not. Usually it's a week or two behind bus customers...that's one of our few perks.

Thumbs up

Even if you don't have a business account, go ahead and call the business line and see what happens, you might luck out. I was able to call in and order my 8830 this morning without any problems - and I only have a personal account. I was originally going to have my brother call his company's rep and see if they could get it for me, but figured there was nothing to lose if I just tried first.

The rep I spoke to was very friendly. I just told her I had a 7130e and that I wanted to upgrade to the 8830 as well as extend my contract for another 2 years. Since I was also eligible for the "new every two", I got an additional $100 discount which means after I send in the rebate I'll have only paid $99 (excluding taxes and shipping). She did ask what company I worked for, so I just gave her my brother's company but I used a personal credit card to charge it to and that was it.

Just called the 800 number on 8830 website and place an order for 8830 (upgrade replacement for 7130e, contract expired 3 months ago) this morning. I only have a personal account with 4 lines; no corporate affiliation whatsoever. The rep asked for my employer info and I told him i was self-employeed; and that was that. My price was $399, less NE2 discount and a $100 mail-in rebate (I think that makes $199 for me, before tax). Verizon only made me extend my contract for 1 additional year though.

ok i thought my little work around would work, but i'm not sure...i definitely don't want to pay full retail price if at all possible and i'm not due for an upgrade until Nov. '08 and i'm also not a business customer, waiting until the 28th is fine for me...

i have an xv6700, which i cannot stand, had a blackberry before that 8700c (on cingular) to be exact...is it possible to not pay full retail? If i add another line...then wait a few days to cancel the plan, will they want my phone back? if i keep it, will they charge me the price of the retail value? if i'm within the 15 days? (i'm on verizon btw)

I also thought of waiting after the 15 days, that way i can easily cancel my plan and keep the phone, only problem is they charge $175 for early cancellation...but maybe it still brings me below $500? anybody? thanks

Business/Corporate account holders receive an invoice. Not sure on individuals.

They never asked me either, so I just assumed it would be billed to my account.

Getting one seems to be really "hit and miss". I currently have an XV6600 PPC and watch to switch to the 8830. I called the 800 number on the web site and after following the voice prompts it kept dumping me back to customer support. Finally I just entered nothing at the voice prompt and got tele-sales. Went through the "what state are you in" and then got transferred to someone who handled WI. The lady that picked up the phone was very excited to give me pricing if I was going to activate 5 or more lines on a business plan. As soon as I said I just wanted to get a new device and extend my contract (it's long expired) All I could get from her was "full retail price".

Based on reading here, I'm quite sure I should be able to do better than that.

hey all...
I called the 800 number from Verizon Wireless Blackberry - Your World in One Place and asked if there was any way i could get the phone for less than full retail even though im not eligible for upgrade just yet... the rep blind transfers me to a regular customer service rep, who was very helpful (as usual, i must say)... the CRC took a while to review my account and she finally went to ask her supervisor if she could do better than full retail (without my asking) for me...

the sup OKd the 2-year price as long as i re-up for 2 years... according to the rep and her sup, they can only do this in the store for me because they cant override the NE2 in the call center, so I have to wait for 5/28 anyway.

the rep "noted my account" and "will call me on the 28th"

i was sure to get the reps name and extension...

any comments on this whole thing?
anyone think i can call the 800 number and have them sell it to me based on the account notes?

^^because it's the 8800 series...

@breakerfall, i hope that is the case, then i can get this phone, i'm not due for an upgrade until another year and then some...i'm just wondering though, if you extend the contract does your upgrade date get pushed back? and 1 year contract or 2 year contract? how much would that save you, off the phone?

Yes, this will use up my NE2 that isnt really due to me until 5/27/_08_

from what I'm seeing, the phone should be $199 less a $100 MIR... $99

I just got off the phone with Verizon.

My contract still had 8 months left (up 12/07) but I was eligible for NE2 last December. I had a voice only plan with an LG phone.

The price was $399 for the 8830. Minus $100 for NE2. Minus another $100 for signing up for unlimited data. Total charged to credit card is ~$200. Plus there is another $100 mail in rebate, bringing the actual total price of the 8830 to only $100.

FYI.
