I broke down and got the 7130c. I did everything I said I would do. I did find that most of the functionality was there, except for 2 things, the oz client and the browser icons never got pushed to my handheld. One other thing I noticed was that I am also unable to use this device as a modem. I can configure it, but there is a service book missing that enables that feature.

I can also confirm this...
I tried it many times but no go for tethering.

Considering whether it is worth the hassle???? I sure like the form factor of the 7130c.

I believe that the OZ client is proprietary to T-Mobile OS's. Check out the Aftermarket Softwear thread, lots of good stuff on IM clients in there...

I think both the tethering and browser issues relate to not being able to edit the browser settings on the 7130c. On my 7105, if I open teh browser, click on options, browser options, I can change my home page. On my 7130c, I am unable to do this. Does anybody know if there is a way?

Well, I just got the tethering option working now. Apparently, I had to make a slight change in the init string for the standard modem, and it worked. Now, only if I can get the oz client and browser, then I'm really on cloud nine.

Well, I too, just got the tethering to work by tweaking the connection settings. It's pretty quick on EDGE. Then again, I am used to traveling and connecting with GPRS when a hotspot or high speed connection isn't available. Now if we could just figure out how to get the browser.....

Oh, yeah, and I'd like the "browser" center button to bring me to bookmarks, not launch the browser itself. This is really annoying, and I can't figure out how to change it, as "bookmarks" isn't an option on the screen/keyboard settings.

Seems as if more people have said "partially" any specifics?
Also, did anyone have any luck getting the browser icon?

Interface with BES was ultimately the showstopper in my case.

I have an unlocked 7130c from Cingular. I am now on TMO and I can use "download fun" to browse the web but it doesn't handle the pages adeptly as the browser.

Also, since I have switched to TMO, I cannot save ringtones, backgrounds, or anything to the device from the browser (as I could when I was using the phone with cingular!)

Does anyone have a work around for this!?

thanks.

Couple questions - Those that got the tethering to work, how did you change the init string to do this?

Also, I cannot save mp3s or files, anyone find a solution?
