A scam? For a developer to have a public beta test period?? I don't think so. Many professional developers do public beta testing before releasing a final product. If you like one or the other, feel free to post your opinion, etc. However, don't make something out of nothing.

That comment is so offbase. The developers NEVER portrayed JiveTalk as a free forever program. I believe you are confusing their kindness to allow users of the BBF in the beta testing period. From the beginning, they indicated it would be a commercial program.
And it is well worth it's $$. You can actually get support and they take feedback.

I'm still trying to figure out this whole "they don't answer support" theory. We should all try and send a test email to see if they respond..lol

Heck, i haven't even seen them make a reply to any post for 2-3 weeks...at least. And like I said, they don't answer support, not 4 me anyway.

With the latest version of IM+ I think it's safe to say yes, I have an 8700 and it does so but something might work differently with the 8830.

+1 for JT. The best part about this app is waiting for the next version or update... always adding cool things and new features.

Is the aim service delayed on JiveTalk, how does it compare to sidekick aim, is it really back and forth or is it back, delay and then forth. Im thinking about trading in my sidekick for a 8800 or Curve, but I really need the AIM service and unless the blackberry with jivetalk offers the same style with no delay I dont want to make the switch so any honest advice would be greatly appreciated.

Protagonist, Welcome to the Forums.
I have never noticed a delay on AIM on JiveTalk, and I use it daily.

I was loving IM+....
But I am increasingly dissapointed that Shape Services has not fixed a rather severe (to me) bug. I have gotten used to using keyboard shortcuts for switching chat windows.
IM+ ignores my keyboard shortcuts everytime a notification shows up (especially when I open IM+ from background to foreground, if messages has come in). My keyboard shortcuts only resume working when the notifications go away.
I reported this bug 3 times and have given up trying to re-report this bug... I liked Version 4 better than Version 5 because of its better keyboard shortcut friendliness...
People who don't use keyboard shortcuts (i.e. ALT+Space, etc.) to switch chats and close chats, etc -- it doesn't matter. But I love using keyboard shortcuts for the last many years, and I want to keep my chat software keyboard shortcut friendly....

In IM+ you can go to Settings / Shortcuts. Enable them, and you will be able to create your own shortcuts for IM+.

My vote goes to JiveTalk as well. I remember whem IM+ first hit the scene and it was between them and Verichat but then JiveTalk hit the scene hard and strong. JT still has the best customer service imo.
